Official: Cameron Mackintosh Announces Russell Crowe & Hugh Jackman for LES MIS Film

It's been speculated on all week, but it's now officially been announced that Working Title's live-action film adaptation of Cameron Mackintosh's hit stage musical LES MISERABLES by Boublil and Schonberg will directed by Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) and written by William Nicholson and will star Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. Universal Pictures are releasing the film worldwide.

BWW Review: Mustard Seed Theatre's Touching Production of SHADOWLANDS

Writer William Nicholson's play SHADOWLANDS, which was adapted from his 1985 television screenplay, takes a look at the life of C.S. Lewis, focusing its attention on the relationship between the famous author and an American fan named Joy Gresham that he wound up marrying. It's a superbly constructed work that's touching and surprisingly funny, and Mustard Seed Theatre has mounted a wonderful production that's sparked by flawless direction and brilliant performances.

SHADOWLANDS is based on the real-life story of C.S. Lewis, who unexpectedly falls in love with young American poet Joy Gresham. A romance with a bittersweet ending, by William Nicholson, with direction by Deanna Jent. The cast includes B.Weller, Terry Meddows, Richard Lewis, Michael Brightman, Jackson Mabry and Resident Artists Carmen Larimore Russell, Kelley Ryan as Joy Gresham and Gary Barker as C.S. Lewis.

After a successful run this past winter with the Keen Company at the Clurman Theater / Theater Row, Jonathan Hogan and Ron Holgate will reprise their roles in Heroes, by Gerald Sibleyras with a translation by Tom Stoppard and directed by Carl Forsman with the Merrimack Repertory Theatre Company. They will be joined by Ken Tigar, who will be playing the role previously performed by Broadway vet John Cullum in the Theater Row premiere. The production at the Merrick Theatre will run from November 19 through December 13.

Ron Holgate Replaces Tony Roberts in HEROES

Keen Company announced today that Tony Award-winner Ron Holgate (1776, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Grand Hotel, recent revivals of Kiss Me, Kate and Guys and Dolls) will join John Cullum and Jonathan Hogan for its upcoming production of Heroes, replacing previously announced Tony Roberts. Mr. Roberts has withdrawn from the production to attend to family matters. The New York premiere of this 2006 Olivier Award-winning play by Gerald Sibleyras with a translation by Tom Stoppard, will be helmed by Keen Artistic Director Carl Forsman and run from February 24 - April 11 at The Clurman Theatre / Theatre Row ( 410 West 42nd Street ). The official opening is set for March 8.

Simon Jones to Star in Guthrie's 'Shadowlands'; Complete Casting Annouced

The Guthrie today announced casting for William Nicholson's Shadowlands, directed by Joe Dowling. English actor Simon Jones (The Home Place, 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy') returns to Minneapolis, playing C.S. Lewis alongside Guthrie favorite Charity Jones (Jane Eyre, A Christmas Carol), who will play his wife Joy Gresham Davidman. Shadowlands begins previews November 1, opening November 7 and continuing through December 21 on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.
