National Portrait Gallery to Display SARGENT Exhibition, 2/12

A major exhibition of works by one of the world's most celebrated portrait painters, John Singer Sargent, opens at the National Portrait Gallery tomorrow (Thursday 12 February 2015). Organised in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the exhibition brings together, for the first time, a collection of the artist's intimate and informal portraits of his impressive circle of friends, including Robert Louis Stevenson, Claude Monet and Auguste Rodin.

New Amsterdam Singers to Present NEW AMERICAN ROMANTICS. 3/6 & 3/8

The New Amsterdam Singers (NAS), led by music director Clara Longstreth, will present New American Romantics, a program of American music featuring poems of Robert Frost, William Butler Yeats, James Agee, Robert Graves, and Thomas Hardy written by living composers. They include Dominick Argento, Donald Grantham, Matthew Harris, Morten Lauridsen, Elizabeth Lim, Ben Moore, and Ronald Perera. The two performances will take place Friday, March 6, 2015, at 8:00 P.M., and Sunday, March 8, 2015, at 4:00 P.M., at The Church of the Holy Trinity, 316 East 88th Street.

Directed by newly appointed Naked Angels Artistic Director Liz Carlson, Dylan performances are tonight, April 29 through May 11 at 7:30pm, in a limited engagement at the New York City College of Technology's Voorhees Theatre, located at 186 Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn. As it opens Lawrence Wright's Fallaci, its 65th world premiere, Berkeley Repertory Theatre also announces open registration for its Summer Theatre Intensive and Teen Actors Studio programs. These summer camps provide middle- and high-school students a rigorous and rewarding training program with full access to the creativity and operations of the Tony Award-winning nonprofit. Throughout June and July, local youth will adapt and mount their own performances on one of the Theatre's renowned stages.

This production, which began as a staged-reading in collaboration with Write Out Loud, will once again feature Cygnet Resident Artist Francis Gercke as Thoureau, and will be directed by Eric Poppick. RIPPLES FROM WALDEN POND will run for four performances only, April 16th, 17th, 23rd, and 24th at 7:30pm. All four performances will take place at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town State Historic Park.

Roscommon Arts Centre presents Norah McGuinness: Illustrations to the Stories of Red Hanrahan. This small exhibition of McGuinness' illustrations to William Butler Yeats' The Stories of Red Hanrahan and the Secret Rose (1905) will mark one of the very few times that these works have been exhibited publicly in many years. The suite of drawings has recently undergone some moderate conservation work, a project which was made possible under the Heritage Council Grants Programme and is brought to Roscommon Arts Centre in collaboration with The Model, Sligo.
