The longest-running play in New York City history is turning 24.

The first few weeks of a new year are always bittersweet for the theater community. This January, at least 20 Broadway shows have posted closing notices. But one of New York's greatest curiosities, Warren Manzi's Off Broadway thriller Perfect Crime, heads into 2011 - its 24th year - on the cusp of performance number 10,000. Perfect Crime is the longest-running play in the history of New York theater.

Stephen Zinnato, who played Nolan opposite Joan Collins on Guiding Light for three years, will join the Off Broadway cast of Perfect Crime for two weeks only, July 19 through August 1, 2010, in the role of Inspector James Ascher.

Perfect Crime, New York's answer to The Mousetrap, was optioned for Broadway in 1980 while its author, Warren Manzi, was playing Mozart in the Broadway production of Amadeus. At the time, Manzi was the youngest American to have a play optioned for Broadway.
