CHICAGO, Broadway's longest running American musical, just held a celebratory cocktail reception yesterday at New York City's The Palm Restaurant West Side location to officially launch the show's 20th anniversary year. Lead producer Barry Weissler addressed the crowd to toast the occasion and announce initiatives taking place over the next year in the lead-up to the official anniversary celebration and performance this November. With direction by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and choreography by Josh Rhodes, Bright Star began performances on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street), with an official opening night set for Thursday, March 24th, 2016. Randolph) for a limited one-week engagement, May 10 - 15, 2016.

On last night's TONIGHT SHOW, the cast of the new Broadway musical BRIGHT STAR performed 'Sun's Gonna Shine,' led by Carmen Cusack, who makes her Broadway debut in the show.

Bright Star, the new musical from Grammy and Emmy Award winner Steve Martin and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, will make its national television debut tonight on NBC'S "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."  The appearance will include interviews with Martin and Brickell, as well as a cast performance of the number "Sun's Gonna Shine," which Variety called, "A gorgeous anthem to optimism," led by Carmen Cusack.  (Ms. Cusack's starring role in Bright Star marks her Broadway debut.)  "The Tonight Show" airs on NBC at 11:35 p.m. (10:35 p.m. Central).

Chicago, Broadway's longest running American musical, now in its 20th year, just celebrated another milestone at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St., NYC). Last night the company gathered to mark the show's 8000th performance on a night that happened to also be the birthday of Barry Weissler, the show's lead producer. 911 and The Big Reunion star Lee Brennan will make his musical theatre debut when he joins the cast of Footloose: The Musical, playing the role of Willard from Tuesday 19 April to Saturday 18 June 2016. Lee will join the UK tour for dates in Oxford, Weston Super Mare, Wimbledon, Liverpool, Belfast, Derry, Torquay and Glasgow.
