Victory Gardens Theater continues its 44th season with the Chicago Premiere of Cambodian Rock Band, written by Lauren Yee, featuring songs by Dengue Fever and directed by Marti Lyons. Cambodian Rock Band runs April 5 - May 5, 2010, with press performance on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 7:30pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue. Victory Gardens is also pleased to announce a partnership with Lincoln Hall to present Dengue Fever in concert on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

Refuge Theater Project is proud to announce the cast and production team for its second production in its 2018 - 2019 season, Hands on a Hardbody, March 15 - April 27, book by Doug Wright, with lyrics by Amanda Green,  and music by Trey Anastasio and Amanda Green, directed by Refuge Theatre Project's Artistic Director Christopher Pazdernik and music directed by Jon Schneidman.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced today that the Community Development Commission voted to approve a $75 million rehabilitation of the long-vacant Uptown Theatre at 4816 N. Broadway.

Midsommer Flight's seventh summer of free Shakespeare performances as an Arts Partner in Chicago Park District parks began on Saturday, July 7 in Lincoln Park with THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA. The company's production of Shakespeare's comedy will play two weekends each in four different Chicago parks - through Sunday August 26. The next venue for THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA will be Gross Park, 2708 W. Lawrence Ave., where it will play July 14 and 15 and 21 and 22. Midsommer Flight will expand programming in its 2018 season to include a free TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA in the parks this summer, special staged reading of RICHARD III in spring and the holiday perennial TWELFTH NIGHT. Midsommer Flight, the professional not-for-profit theatre company that has been bringing free Shakespeare to Chicago parks since 2012, will expand its programming from two to three productions for its 2018 season. The 2017 Chicago Fringe Festival and Kids Fringe, August 30 - September 10, announce the slate of performances and venues and all tickets go on sale to the public on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 12 p.m. The eighth annual Chicago Fringe Festival takes place in five venues in Jefferson Park. Entrance to the Chicago Fringe Festival, called Chicago's "Best Performing Arts Festival" by the Chicago Reader, is a one-time button purchase of $5, after that all individual performances are $10. Kids Fringe features free workshops along with ticketed shows that are appropriate for all ages.

Martin Lawrence Galleries (MLG) South Coast has partnered with the City of Costa Mesa to declare October 2016 as Mark Kostabi Month. Kostabi will be presented with a proclamation from Costa Mesa's Mayor Stephen Mensinger at 'Meet the Artist: Mark Kostabi.' Kostabi is a prominent figure from the New York 1984 East Village art scene. The public art reception will take place October 22, 2016, from 7-9PM. MLG South Coast is located at 3333 Bear Street, Suite 202, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. 'Why are the figures faceless? It's a universal language free of racial limitations, and a reflection of society's fear of individuality,' said Mark Kostabi, Artist. 'The MLG South Coast has been in business for over 40 years and self-proclaimed Mark Kostabi is a California State University Fullerton alumn with Southern California roots that we associate with as a local art business,' said Kenneth W. Lawrence, Gallery Director. 'The City of Costa Mesa residents are exposed to the fine taste of performing arts, yet, to celebrate the accomplishments of Mr. Mark Kostabi shall bring inspiration to the emerging visual artists,' said Stephen Mensinger, Mayor of Costa Mesa. 'Our Cultural Arts Committee works with City Council to bring art awareness to the residents in the City of the Arts.'
