Playwright/Director Brad T Gottfred, has announced that his most recent work (and only second play for the theatre stage)... Women Are Crazy Because Men Are A**holes will have its West Coast premiere at West Hollywood's Macha Theatre July 25 through September 25, 2013. The premiere is presented by Bleeping Crazy Entertainment in association with Macha Theatre/Films and follows a brief workshop production in Los Angeles and a world premiere in Chicago... both executed during 2011.
Jon Yanofsky, a seasoned performing arts and nonprofit professional, has been named Director of Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts, one of the oldest performing arts organizations in Brooklyn.
Bernard Sahlins died peacefully at his home after a short illness. In 1959, Sahlins founded The Second City with Howard Alk and Paul Sills and served as the theatre's longtime producer and director until 1984. He produced multiple television productions in the UK and the USA, as well as SCTV in Canada. For the past eight years, he worked with the Poetry Foundation directing staged readings - the most recent of which was Comic Poetry. Honors include the Sergel Prize for playwright, several Jeff Awards for directing and the Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Chicago for his contributions to the theatre.

John Cranko's Onegin was recently presented by American Ballet Theatre. As I expected, the reviews weren't great. It seems Cranko never commands much respect over here. The reviews all describe the work in the same way: empty, boring, sleep-inducing. But I don't agree. Sure, the ballet could be shortened, but aren't there many ballets like that. One thing it does offer: wonderful acting parts for dancers.
