Sutton Foster and the cast of the Broadway musical VIOLET kicked off 'Best of Broadway' week on NBC's Today.

Broadway actress Sutton Foster stopped by this morning's TODAY show to talk about her starring role Roundabout Theater Company's "Violet.'

Violet opened last week, April 20, on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre. This production stars Sutton Foster, Colin Donnell, Alexander Gemignani, and Joshua Henry. The cast of Violet is in the recording studio today, recording the cast album of Violet on April 7, 2014. This Original Broadway Cast Recording, a two-disc set, will be released by PS Classics on June 3. The production is currently playing at the American Airlines Theatre through August 10, 2014. Based on the short story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim' by Doris Betts, Violet features music by Jeanine Tesori and book & lyrics by Brian Crawley. Violet will be produced in association with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, David Mirvish, Barry and Fran Weissler, Elizabeth Armstrong, and Mary Jo and Ted Shen.
