Beginning today, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Jerome Robbins Dance Division is accepting applications for its fourth class of Dance Research Fellows, generously funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Louise Guthman Estate and the Committee for the Dance Division. In honor of the Dance Division's 75th anniversary year, each of the five curators who have overseen the collection during its history -- Genevieve Oswald, Madeleine Nichols, Michelle Potter, Jan Schmidt and current curator Linda Murray -- selected a particular collection within the Dance Division's holdings for one researcher to explore. The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) announcesJourneys as the theme for the 25th Anniversary Fall Festival. More than 80 programs will take place in and around Chicago Oct. 25-Nov. 9, 2014 as part of the annual arts and ideas festival. Confirmed 2014 presenters include jazz composer-pianist Vijay Iyer, NYU professor and scholar of travel narratives Mary Louise Pratt, Top Chef Masters winnerMarcus Samuelsson, graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi, TV/film actress Victoria Tennant, and author/playwright Colm Toibin.
