The 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals, presented by the National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT), kicked off with THE 46TH MINUTE, a concert hosted by Lindsay Mendez and featuring performances by Heidi Blickenstaff, Doreen Montalvo, Mamie Parris, Bryce Ryness, and more. Musical presentations started October 23 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) and included Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton. Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton make up the eight new musicals that will be presented at the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals today, October 23, 2014 and Friday, October 24, 2014 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Today, October 22nd the Festival kicks off with The 46th Minute, a concert featuring cut songs and new material from all eight 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals selections, followed by The 2014 Songwriters Showcase on October 23rd and The Songwriters Sessions on October 23rd and 24th, all at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) will commence its 2014-15 season at the Hanna Theatre, PlayhouseSquare with a Fall Repertory that features William Shakespeare's uproarious battle of the sexes, The Merry Wives of Windsor and a new production of Boublil and Schonberg's Tony Award-winning musical epic, Les Miserables. The productions will be performed in rotating repertory September 26 - November 9, 2014.

The way that the director, Victoria Bussert began the production gave the impression that the story that you were about to hear was a remembrance of Jean Valjean's life. I think when that happens, sometimes you pay more attention so you won't miss something important.

On April 1, Ciara Renee strutted on stage at the Music Box Theatre on West 45th Street as The Leading Player in PIPPIN. She became one of seventeen Baldwin Wallace Music Theatre Program graduates to appear in a Broadway, Off-Broadway or National Touring company during the 2013-2014 season.

PlayhouseSquare and Baldwin Wallace's renowned music theatre program and the school's arts management program, have come together for seven consecutive years to present an opportunity for the students to interact with professional theatrical figures in a real world unique way.

On opening night, when Corey Mach made his first appearance on stage in 'Flashdance The Musical,' the audience, after being prepped about his entrance by Gina Vernaci, Senior Vice President of Theater Operations, greeted him with a lengthy ovation. During the curtain call, the audience exploded in vocal and physical adoration when Mach came on stage. Then, when the 2006 Strongsville High School and 2010 Baldwin-Wallace alum put on an Indian's baseball cap, the Palace Theatre literally shook with unbridled excitement. Yes, this was a glorious 'welcome home Corey' celebration.

The rave reviews and vivid photographs of Beck Center and Baldwin Wallace Music Theatre Program's production of CARRIE the musical captured the attention of its writer and composer. So much so, playwright Lawrence D. Cohen is traveling to Beck Center on Friday, March 7 to see it for himself. Mr. Cohen will also conduct a post-show talk to share his CARRIE experience. This production is in its final weekend. Show times are 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

Charles Fee, Producing Artistic Director of Great Lakes Theater (GLT), unveiled an ambitious, five-production array of classics to headline the company's 2014-15 season. Great Lakes Theater's fifty-third year is scheduled to run from September 2014 through April 2015 at PlayhouseSquare's Hanna and Ohio Theatres.
