Author and Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff and Martin Shafiroff hosted a reception on the Upper East Side on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 to celebrate New York City Mission Society's annual Champions for Children Gala, which raises funds to support youth and families in our city's most underserved communities to break the cycle of poverty and achieve success.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, more than 340 people attended the New York City Mission Society's annual Champions for Children Gala, raising a half million dollars to help youth and families in the city's most underserved communities break the cycle of poverty and achieve success.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, the New York City Mission Society will hold its annual Champions for Children fundraising Gala. This year's event will honor legendary actress and singer Diahann Carroll and entrepreneur Don Peebles, as well as recognize three lifetime members of the Mission Society's Board of Directors. Co-chaired by Jean Shafiroff and Katrina Peebles, the benefit will support the Mission Society's programs and services that help youth and families in our city's most underserved communities break the cycle of poverty and achieve success.

This year's honorees are legendary actress and singer Diahann Carroll, entrepreneur Don Peebles, and three lifetime members of the Mission Society's Board of Directors: actress and philanthropist Dina Merrill Hartley, whose family has supported the Mission Society for four generations; Lloyd W. Brown, II; and, LTC Francis W. Kairson, Jr. (Ret).

On Tuesday, January 24, philanthropist Jean Shafiroff brought together several dozen supporters of the New York City Mission Society to begin planning for the annual Champions for Children Gala. Jean Shafiroff will again chair the benefit, which will be held on April 5 at the Mandarin Hotel.

On June 20th, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation's founding chairs Emily Levin Esq. and Julie Ratner Ed. D held their 20th annual gala to celebrate their achievements over the past two decades and to honor Andy Sabin for his environmental and philanthropic work. Chaired by Jean Shafiroff and hosted by Fox Meteorologist Audrey Puente, the duo welcomed over 300 guests to photographer, Steven Klein's Westkill Farm in Bridgehampton for a night of dinner and dancing to the sounds of Audrey's brother, Tito Puente Jr. & his 10-piece band. Geoffrey Bradfield, Barbara and Donald Tober, Gillian and Sylvester Miniter, Eleanora and Michael Kennedy and Ambassador John Loeb and Sharon Handler Loeb co-hosted a special VIP Preview of acclaimed celebrity and society photographer Annie Watt's Impromptu Portraits at the prestigious Galerie Dumonteil on Park Avenueand 57th Street on Tuesday to benefit the American Heart Association. The incisive images of celebrities, political figures, designers and society's elite filled the walls of the elegant gallery. The images were presented in a variety of sizes and formats, classic 8 x 10, Oversize and snappy Polaroids and many were scooped up by the attendees.
