American Ballet Theater Announces 2019 Spring Season

American Ballet Theatre's 2019 Spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 13 - July 6, will feature a World Premiere work by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky in programs dedicated entirely to his works in honor of the choreographer's 10th year with the Company.

Washington Ballet Premieres Historical Video Celebrating 40 Years, 1/10

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Washington Ballet performance company, the Ballet will premiere to the general public, a three-part video series that takes viewers on an emotional and inspirational look back at the people and creative works that have come to define the professional dance company since its start in 1976.

Washington Ballet Appoints Julie Kent as New Artistic Director

WASHINGTON, D.C. - This afternoon The Washington Ballet Board of Directors selected Julie Kent, retired Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre (ABT) and artistic director of the ABT Summer Intensive program, as Artistic Director of The Washington Ballet (TWB) effective, July 1, 2016. 

Julie Kent Named American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensive Artistic Director

Julie Kent has been named artistic director of American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensive programs, it was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. In addition to her leadership responsibilities with ABT's Summer Intensives, she will serve as a teacher and coach for ABT's main Company, Studio Company and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School.

Retired ABT Dancer, Julie Kent, to Take On New Role With the Company

Retired principal ballet dancer of American Ballet Theater, Julie Kent, will begin as artistic director of the summer intensive programs for young dancers with the company.  She will also be a teacher and coach for the Ballet Theater, its studio company, and at its Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, as reported by the NY Times.

Paloma Herrera, Julie Kent and Xiomara Reyes to Retire from The American Ballet Theatre

Paloma Herrera, Julie Kent and Xiomara Reyes, Principal Dancers with American Ballet Theatre, have announced their retirements from the Company at the conclusion of the 2015 Metropolitan Opera House season in New York City. “These three unique ballerinas have each made such distinctive contributions to ABT throughout the years,” Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie stated. “With them, an era of our history resides. Their remarkable careers will be three more reasons to celebrate our 75th Anniversary Season.”

CINDERELLA, THE TEMPEST and More Set for ABT's 2014 Spring Season at the Met

American Ballet Theatre's 2014 season at the Metropolitan Opera House was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. The season will be highlighted by the Company Premiere of Frederick Ashton's Cinderella, and a Shakespeare Celebration to include Ashton's The Dream and Alexei Ratmansky's The Tempest. Season revivals include Leonide Massine's Gaîté Parisienne and Kenneth MacMillan's Manon.

BWW Reviews: American Ballet Theatre's Triple Bill

I was looking forward to American Ballet Theater's triple bill on May 21 with anticipation, because I had seen one of the ballets, Frederick Ashton's A Month in the County, years ago, and always held it in warm esteem. I remembered how moved I was as the curtain fell on the dancer (was it Lynn Seymour?) portraying the heroine, Natalia Petrovna, alone on the stage with nothing but a loveless and frustrating future awaiting her.

The Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) hosted the 2011 Princess Grace Awards Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City and presented 21 Awards to emerging artists in theater, dance and film, as well as the Prince Rainier III Award which was presented to Julie Andrews and the Princess Grace Statue Award which was presented to Jon M. Chu, director of the highest grossing concert-themed film of all time in the U.S. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Oscar©-nominated actress Anne Hathaway introduced the special tribute to Julie Andrews. The Gala took place in the presence of TSH The Prince and Princess of Monaco.
