The LOVE2 THEATRE COMPANY presents its inaugural production of 'Danny and the Deep Blue Sea,' written by Oscar, Tony, and Pulitizer prize winning American playwright John Patrick Shanley (Doubt; Savage in Limbo; Defiance).

The Metropolitan Opera has named soprano Lisette Oropesa as the winner of the 14th annual Beverly Sills Artist Award. The $50,000 award is given to extraordinarily gifted singers with rising Met careers. Given in honor of the legendary American soprano Beverly Sills, the award was established in 2006 by an endowment gift from the late Agnes Varis, a managing director on the Met's Board of Directors.

For ten years, Smith Street Stage (Beth Ann Hopkins, Artistic Director), has produced award-winning, high-quality productions of Shakespeare plays in a small city park in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, free of charge. Beginning in 2010 with a five-actor adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, the company has grown from a wild idea to a group featured on nightly news segments, New York Times arts pages, and onstage at the New York Innovative Theater Awards, where in 2014 and 2016 their Shakespeare in Carroll Park productions took home the big prize of Best Revival. This June, Smith Street Stage brings Romeo & Juliet to Carroll Park once again, under the direction of Shaun Bennet Fauntleroy and with new music by Josephine Hurshell-Hobson.

As singles' nights turn into bachelorette parties, Jordan must face his own capacity to love and be loved. This hilarious and heart-wrenching Broadway comedy dives into the trenches of urban single life and the aspirational gay wedding, reminding us that you can't hurry love-no matter how much you wish you could.

Audiences in more than 500 UK cinemas can watch Romeo and Juliet, live from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, on Tuesday 11 June 2019, with an encore screening on Sunday 16 June 2019.

Core Dance, the award-winning contemporary dance organization based in Decatur, GA and Houston, TX, will present EnCore Dance on Film on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 5:00pm 10:00p.m. at Core Studios, 139 Sycamore Street, Decatur Square. California Shakespeare Theater opens its 2019 summer season with A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare, playing May 22 through June 16, 2019 at the Bruns Amphitheater in Orinda. The season launches with A Pay What You Can performance on Wednesday, May 22nd. Tacoma Little Theatre's production of The Pillowman, a 2003 play by Irish writer Martin McDonagh, took top honors at the American Association of Community Theatre: Region IX competition in Spokane, Washington, April 18 through 20. Its director, Blake R. York, along with his cast, thereby qualified to compete in national finals held June 18 through 22 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
