Rob Ruggiero Named TheaterWorks' Producing Artistic Director

After a nationwide search, the board of directors of TheaterWorks is very pleased to announce that it has selected Rob Ruggiero as TheaterWorks' new Producing Artistic Director. Mr. Ruggiero, who has been affiliated with TheaterWorks for 20 years and has served as its Interim Artistic Director since March of 2012, will assume his role as of January 1, 2013. Michael G. Albano, the president of TheaterWorks' board, stated that the search committee had reviewed approximately 130 applications for the position. Although the committee was impressed by these applicants' enthusiasm and variety of experience, Mr. Albano explained that "the committee came to the conclusion that no applicant could match Rob's combination of directorial excellence on a national level, his management and fundraising skills and instincts, his knowledge of the community, and his exciting vision for the theater's future."

Little Orchestra Society's Lolli-Pops Concert WHO'S GOT THE BEAT? Plays Hunter College, 2/9 & 10

Bang the Lion has lost his beat. How will he find it? The Lolli-Pops™ gang, guest conductor James Judd, and audiences will help him, as The Little Orchestra Society (LOS) presents, WHO'S GOT THE BEAT?, on Saturday, February 9, at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Sunday, February 10, at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th St. between Park and Lexington Aves.).

A VIEW OF THE MOUNTAINS, DEAR GALILEO & More Set for Pasadena Playhouse's HOTHOUSE AT THE PLAYHOUSE 2012-13 Season

The Pasadena Playhouse announced the first four productions of the 2012 - 2013 season of its HOTHOUSE at The Playhouse new play development, staged reading series. The season will feature the world premiere reading of Lee Blessing's (A Walk in the Woods) A View of the Mountains starring Jane Kaczmarek and Betsy Brandt, Marsha Mason as the title role in Aunt Stossie's Coming for Five Days and Michael Arabian (Ovation nominee, Waiting for Godot) directing a new work supported by the Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance.

Mutineer Theatre Company Opens CONK AND BONE World Premiere Tonight, 10/20

Conk and Bone, a new play by Joe Musso, has been set for a limited engagement at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre (upstairs at The Pasadena Playhouse) in Pasadena. Directed by Kappy Kilburn, the darkly comic Conk and Bone opens tonight, October 20 at 8:00. The strictly limited engagement will continue through November 4 only.

Little Orchestra Society Presents THE ORCHESTRA - A HAPPY FAMILY at Hunter College, 8/27-28

The Little Orchestra Society (The LOS) inaugurates the 2012-2013 season with an audience favorite from its acclaimed Lolli-Pops™ series, The Orchestra - A Happy Family. Performances will take place on Saturday October 27 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Sunday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th St. between Park and Lexington Aves.). The musicians of The LOS, led by guest conductor Philip Mann and joined by the colorful Lolli-Pops™ characters, introduce their musical families to yours, where the drums Bang, the strings Bow, the brass Buzz and the winds Toot.

Pasadena Playhouse Concludes 2011-2012 Season with JITNEY
