The 10-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical THE BAND'S VISIT will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, April 7, 2019.

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, The Public Theater will conclude its summer season at the Delacorte Theatre with free performances of the Public Works' musical adaptation of HERCULES (August 31-September 8), with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by David Zippel, book by Kristoffer Diaz, and directed by Lear deBessonet.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the world premiere of SOCRATES, written by acclaimed actor, director, and writer Tim Blake Nelson. Directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes and anchoring the Onassis Festival 2019: Democracy is Coming, SOCRATES will begin previews on Tuesday, April 2, with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Wednesday, April 3 in The Public's Martinson Hall. This powerful new play runs through Sunday, May 19, with an official press opening on Tuesday, April 16.

THE BAND'S VISIT, one of the most Tony Award -winning musicals in history, will launch its National Tour at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI June 25 30, 2019. On last night's episode of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' the cast of Tony Award-winning Broadway musical 'The Band's Visit' performed a scaled-down version of 'Omar Sharif' with Katrina Lenk.

The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle has announced the nominations for its 2018 Craig Noel Awards. Continuing its 40th Anniversary Season, Second Stage Theater has announced casting for the world premiere of Steven Levenson's play, DAYS OF RAGE, directed by Trip Cullman.

Just in from Deadline, Shawn Levy's 21 Laps and Greg Berlanti's Berlanti Productions companies have been chosen as the producers for a future movie adaption of the Broadway-bound Be More Chill. No timetable has yet been set, and now that producers have been found, the hunt will be on for a film studio. 

the Miss You Like Hell - Original Cast Recording has been released in digital and streaming formats today, Friday, October 5. A physical CD will be available online and in stores Friday, November 16.
