by Tyler Peterson
- Apr 9, 2015
ArtsWest has announced the return of the longest running production in Seattle theatre history, as four angry housewives take the stage on April 23rd. Premiering in 1983, this musical went on to play for nearly seven years in Pioneer Square Theatre spaces, burning it's songs and cut-loose attitude into Seattle's history. With an Off-Broadway stint in 1986, the production has had a healthy run in regional theatre, including most major cities in America.

You know how those 'Saturday Night Live' skits are where it's a fantastic premise and really funny to start out but then they have no idea how to end it so it drones on and on. Well the current off-kilter holiday production out at ArtsWest is like that. Filled with gut busting laughs and wonderful musical numbers in Act One but then turns into something very different in Act Two and keeps going on and on and ends about four different times.

But the battle is over and it's my distinct pleasure to announce my picks for the 2013 Broadway World Seattle Critic's Choice Awards (or Jay's Picks, if you prefer).

It's a really good thing the air conditioning is working in the Seattle Center Armory because something has to cool the audience down after Sound Theatre Company's current production of "The Wild Party". Not only is it a sultry good time but the fear, love, lust, anger and danger coming off the cast is palpable.
