Williamstown Theatre Festival to Launch 2016 Season with THE ROSE TATTOO and COST OF LIVING This Weekend

Williamstown Theatre Festival hosts the opening night for its first two shows of the 2016 Season this Saturday, July 2nd at 8:00pm.

Paul Rudd to Headline Reading of Neil LaBute's REASONS TO BE PRETTY HAPPY at MCC Theater

MCC Theater has announced that its previously announced benefit reading of a new Neil LaBute play, Reasons to be Pretty Happy, will be led by star of stage and screen-and frequent LaBute collaborator-Paul Rudd, who previously worked with LaBute on the critically acclaimed play, The Shape of Things in both New York and London as well as the film adaptation.  He also starred on stage in LaBute's bash - in New York and Los Angeles.

Marisa Tomei and More Star in THE ROSE TATTOO, Beginning Tonight at Williamstown Theatre Festival

Barbara Rosenblat will be appearing as Assunta in the Williamstown Theatre Festival's new production of Pulitzer Prize-winner Tennessee Williams' intoxicating comedy THE ROSE TATTOO (June 28-July 17).   Obie Award-winner Trip Cullman directs the play, which won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1951.  In addition to Marisa Tomei who stars as the grieving widow Serafina and Christopher Abbott as the hot-blooded trucker Alvaro, Rosenblat will be joining her 'Orange Is the New Black' costar Constance Shulman.  Rosenblat received international recognition for her portrayal of cancer-stricken inmate Miss Rosa, while Shulman plays Yoga Jones on that popular Netflix program.

New Works by Tracy Letts, Bruce Norris & Anna Deavere Smith Included in Second Stage Theatre's 2016-17 Season

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Casey Reitz, Executive Director) has announced three New York Premiere productions for its upcoming 38th season. The season will kick off in October 2016 with the New York Premiere ofNOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith and directed by Leonard Foglia. This marks Ms. Smith and Mr. Foglia's return to Second Stage Theatre, where their previous collaboration, Let Me Down Easy, had its New York Premiere in 2008.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced today the Nominating Committee for the 2016-17 Broadway season. The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

The Drama Book Shop will welcome back playwright and actress Halley Feiffer for an intimate discussion about her craft and her new play, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Gynecologic Oncology Unit At Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Of New York City. The play is currently receiving its world premiere at MCC's Lucille Lortel Theatre.  Feiffer and Playwright and Drama Book Shop employee Steven Carl McCasland will discuss her work on Friday, May 27th at 5:00pm. MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director)—which recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its first-ever home, a two-theater complex on West 52nd Street and 10th Avenue— has just announced its30th Anniversary Season, which will bring together frequent MCC collaborators alongside artists new to the family for a three-play-and-a-musical season, running September 2016 through June 2017. Anchored by four mainstage premieres, the Theater will also continue its new works in development PlayLabs series and robust education initiatives throughout the season. MCC THEATER has announced that Beth Behrs, the star of CBS's '2 Broke Girls,' will lead the cast of the world premiere of Halley Feiffer's comedy A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York City.  Behrs will be joined by Obie winner Lisa Emery, most recently seen on the hit Netflix drama 'Jessica Jones,' as well as stage veteran Jacqueline Sydney.  Additional casting will be announced at a later date.  Obie winner Trip Cullman directs the production which begins previews on May 19, 2016 ahead of a June 7, 2016 opening night.  Tickets are now on sale at www.mcctheater.org.

Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced that HANNAH AND THE DREAD GAZEBO by Jiehae Park is the 2016 L. Arnold Weissberger New Play Award recipient. Jiehae will also receive The Jay Harris Commission to write a new play, a prize worth $10,000.
