This New Year's Eve, The Green Room 42 and the fabulously-chique Green Fig hospitality group at YOTEL hosts a groovy New Year's Shagadelic Disco party right in the heart of Times Square. The neomodern Social Drink & Food at YOTEL raises the bar for midtown entertainment with its retro accommodations mixed with futuristic design.

Theatre for a New Audience has announced the extension of the Off-Broadway premiere of Denis Johnson’s Des Moines. The final play from the late author now runs through January 8, 2023 (extended from an original closing date of January 1).

Review: THE TRISTAN PROJECT at LA Philharmonic

It is difficult to imagine a better team than conductor Gustavo Dudamel and director Peter Sellars to allow Wagner’s score to freely and mystically float through the Walt Disney Concert Hall uninhibited by stage mechanics and repurpose every inch of the space to paint reverberating aural images.

OTHERING Comes to Sydney Festival Next Month

Little Big Woman Productions will premiere Debra Keenahan’s provocative one-woman performance, Othering from 13th to 15th January at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre as part of the 2023 Sydney Festival.

Review: THE MAGIC FLUTE, Royal Opera House

As the wrangles continue over the funding of the arts in general – and London opera in particular – up pops David McVicar’s The Magic Flute to show just what the fuss is all about. @royaloperahouse #opera

Review: CEK TOKO SEBELAH Stocks Up on Love and Laughter

All in all, CEK TOKO SEBELAH is a worthy addition to the modern Indonesian musical heritage. It’s a great follow-up to MUSIKAL PETUALANGAN SHERINA and proof positive that JAKARTA MOVIN can’t only adapt a musical movie to a great stage show, but non-musical movies are fair game as well.

Review: AS YOU LIKE IT, @sohoplace

Presented in the round with the inclusion of closed-captioning at every performance and a few BSL-signing characters, it’s probably the most accessible, most gender-fluid show currently running in London.

The Victory Theatre Center Presents West Coast Premiere of HOME FRONT

The Victory Theatre Center presents the West Coast premiere of Home Front by Tony Award-winning playwright Warren Leight (Side Man). Leight’s moving portrait of a post-World War II interracial marriage runs January 13 through February 19 at The Victory Theatre Center in Burbank with Victory co-artistic director Maria Gobetti at the helm. Low-priced previews begin January 7.

Review: MANDELA, The Young Vic

To paraphrase Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, when Mandela is good, it’s very, very good, and when it’s bad, it’s almost unwatchable.

Interview: Playwright Lester Probst on VOLUN-TEARS, A World Premiere Play About Sexual Harassment in the Military

ArtsUP! LA is presenting the world premiere of Volun-Tears, a powerful play by Korean War Veteran Lester Probst, based on the true experiences of women who have suffered sexual harassment and sexual abuse while serving in the United States Armed Forces, performed by U.S. Veterans. I decided to speak with Lester Probst on what inspired him to write the play and what message he hopes to instill in audience members to start the road to achieving equality within the ranks of our military, especially for women.
