 Museum of the Moving Image has announced See It Big: Sondheim, a ten-film series devoted to the celebrated composer, lyricist, author, artist, and all-around innovator Stephen Sondheim. When Sondheim died last November, he didn’t just leave behind an extraordinary corpus of work—he had exited a world that his art had forever changed.

In A MINISTER'S WIFE, the composer's collaboration with Austin Pendleton (book), and Jan Levy Tranen (lyrics) dilutes his influence on CANDIDA's transcription, relegating the audience to a compendiary version that eliminates, among other elements, Candida's businessman father - a staunch capitalist foil to her socialist husband, the Reverend James Morell. Just as well, I suppose, given the daunting task of mixing up politics with a love triangle.

In an unprecedented season presenting five new works in its six-show subscription season, the theatrical world-premiere, science fiction play Last Ship to Proxima CentauriI opened Friday, March 4, and will be on stage through March 20. A digital-on-demand production (a limited number of tickets on sale now) will be available from March 16 through April 3.

Actress, comedian, and author Catherine Cohen makes her Netflix original comedy special debut in The Twist…? She’s Gorgeous. The Twist…? She’s Gorgeous is Directed and Executive Produced by Steve Brill. Catherine Cohen also serves as Executive Producer alongside Cait Taylor, Tony Hernandez, John Skidmore, and Séamus Murphy-Mitchell.

YC-based feminist theatre group Tapestry Collective is proud to present the in-person world premiere of “#SoSadSoSexy,” a devised play exploring Western culture's ongoing fascination with, and misrepresentation of, depressed and unstable women.

The last hours of Agustín de Iturbide, his dreams of becoming emperor, his imaginary encounter with Antonio López de Santa Anna, his memories, his legacy, his exile, and his fatal outcome are recreated in the National Theater Company's production of Hours of Grace. The National Theater Company (NTC) in co-production with the Roberto Plasencia Saldaña Bicentennial Theater will premiere the show as a posthumous tribute to the Mexican playwright Juan Tovar.
