DRUNK SHAKESPEARE Opens In Washington, D.C. June 16

Creators Scott Griffin and David Hudson announced that the Washington, D.C. production of the 'smashed' hit comedy, Drunk Shakespeare, will open at The Sage Theatre (located at 1100 13th St NW) on Thursday, June 16th, 2022 for a limited run thru October 1st.

BWW Review: DON PASQUALE, Royal Opera House

Damiano Michieletto’s modern-day staging of Donizetti’s sparkling comedy Don Pasquale divided critics when it last appeared at The Royal Opera House in 2019. The story of the tricking of an old man into marrying a seemingly demure bride, only for her to rapidly becomes a nightmarish tyrant as soon as the ring is on her finger, is a comedy with some very sharp edges.

Leading Musicians Announce the Launch of the Black Orchestral Network (BON) and the 'Dear American Orchestras' Campaign

Today, Black members of more than forty orchestras announced the Black Orchestral Network (BON). BON is a collective of Black orchestral musicians dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable environment for Black people in the orchestral field. The group was built on the motto, “if we increase our connection to one another, we can harness our creativity and develop initiatives  that benefit Black musicians.”

Jose Conde Announces New Album Out, May 20

With his new sonic experiment and journey into electric, eclectic tropicalized, funky pop music, Jose Conde re-emerges from the New York Afro Cuban music cocoon with Moog synthesizer, looper, Yamaha vintage organ, wah-wah electric guitar, acoustic and electric beats, and a slew of new signature songs on his upcoming album. Souls Alive in the 305 (out May 20th on PiPiKi Records) is Conde's ambitious second solo album recorded between Brooklyn and Miami in a five-year span produced by him with co-production help from Miami legend DJ Spam (Andrew Yeomanson).

Bechdel Project Announces Recipient Of One Year Writers Residency

Bechdel Project has announced Jeanne Dorsey as the recipient of the inaugural Room of One's Own (ROO) Writer's Residency. During the residency, Ms. Dorsey will fully develop her new play 'The Kit: Made by Martha,' which was a 2021 Ensemble Studio Theatre/Sloan Commission.

BWW Review: LSPR Teatro's First Original Spectacle DIVA Promises a Bright New Era

Diva, the latest offering from LSPR Teatro, premiered on December 10, 2021 at Cinépolis Plaza Semanggi. It was a momentous production for the theater club, being both their first original musical and their first cinematic show. Though not without obvious shortcomings, the tragic showbiz cautionary tale was nevertheless both enjoyable and impressive.
