The Theatre Museum awarded its 2014 Theatre Museum Awards for Excellence at the Players Club, on Tuesday May 27, 2014. The mission of The Theatre Museum is to preserve, protect, and perpetuate the legacy of the theatre. It is the first and only chartered non profit museum dedicated to the history of Theatre. Since 1995 The Awards for Excellence have recognized individuals and organizations for their contribution to theater arts, education, theater history and preservation.

On Monday evening, BroadwayWorld.com was proud to watch its CEO and Founder, Robert Diamond, receive the 2014 Theatre Museum Award for Excellence in Arts Education. That same evening, Fathom Entertainment received an award for Excellence in Theatre History Preservation, which was presented to their new CEO, John Rubey.

THE LOWER EAST SIDE (LES) FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS - one of the most exciting, eclectic and FREE annual festivals in all of New York City - will present a once in a lifetime performance from Broadway legend DAPHNE RUBIN-VEGA at 6:30 pm on Friday, May 23rd. The indispensable Theater for the New City (155 Fist Ave. at 10th St.) is sponsoring the event, which runs all weekend long from May 23rd until May 25th.

Nonstop theater, a costume competition and ballroom dancing will bewitch the East Village in Theater for the New City's 37th annual Village Halloween Costume Ball tonight, October 31 at TNC, 155 First Avenue. This unique festival continues as a grand coming-together for everyday New Yorkers and artists alike. A carefree fall tradition, it celebrates the creativity that comes with the season.

THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY HOLDS ITS 37th ANNUAL VILLAGE HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL OCTOBER 31. Underground stars perform each year in TNC's Halloween Cabarets. Guests will see, be seen and vie for costume prizes. Celebrants will sink fangs into Halloween delicacies in The Witches' Cauldron.

Summer just got hotter thanks to Horse Trade Theater Group's Summer Burlesque Blitz featuring classic striptease with Angie Pontani's Burlesque-A-Pades, Kita St. Cyr's Intime Burlesque, and The Paper Dolls troupe, nerdlesque with D20, RAWR!, and Storybook Burlesque, boylesque with Epic Win and Shocks & c*cks, and storytelling striptease mashups with Bare.

The 2013 Theatre Museum Awards for Excellence were held Monday night, June 3rd, at The Players Club. Honorees at the evening's ceremony included the Distinguished Service to the Theatre Award given, posthumously, to Helen Guditis and The Theatre Arts Education Award presented to Emerson College. The evening also included a special tribute to the Palace Theater in honor of its 100th anniversary. The Palace Tribute was a trip back in time to the vaudeville era. The Boomerang Theatre Company (Tim Errickson, Artistic Director; Sue Abbott, Managing Director) will celebrate their 15th Anniversary in 2013 with an outdoor production of Shakespeare's RICHARD III and the world premiere of Johnna Adams' verse comedy LICKSPITTLES, BUTTONHOLERS AND DAMNED PERNICIOUS GO BETWEENS. Tin Lily Productions, a Brooklyn based company dedicated to the production of socially relevant theatre, is producing 'Woyzeck' or 'The Endless Cycle,' a new adaptation and composition by William Lewis and Charlie Biscotto based on the original text by Georg Buchner. Performances will be held at The Secret Theatre in Long Island City and are scheduled to run from tonight, November 7th through November 18th, Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8 PM, with Matinee performances Saturdays at 3pm and Sundays at 5 PM.
