Priscilla, Queen of the Desert played its final performance on Broadway on June 24, 2012, after 23 previews and 526 performances. Now, according to an Equity casting notice, a national tour for the show will launch from Minneapolis on January 8.

A beautiful benefit concert called "In Full Bloom" was staged at Birdland on Monday night - created by Ryan Murray and starring incredible Broadway types like Clarke Thorell, Destan Owens, Nikki M. James, Aaron Lazaar, Nick Adams, and Ramona Keller. Joel Waggoner was musical director. The event raised money for The Wishing Kids Foundation, an organization that provides support for people with terminal illnesses. Obviously, with that cast, the singing was gorgeous and heartfelt, the stories were touching, and the crowd was thrilled to meet and hear some of their favorite performers.
Actress, singer, activist turned hypnotherapist Helen Reddy was named the Queen of 70s Pop. In 1973 she had three No. 1 hit tunes, including of course 'I Am Woman', which she co-wrote herself, not finding at that time a single song to record that satisfied her feminine wiles. Now living in Australia, Reddy seems relaxed, content, but still eager, like Norma Desmond, to 'return' to the biz, singing. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert plays its final performance on Broadway today, June 24, 2012, after 23 previews and 526 performances. After a pre-Broadway try-out in Toronto, the show opened on March 20, 2011, at The Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway), starring Tony Award nominee Will Swenson, Tony Award nominee Tony Sheldon and Nick Adams as a trio of friends on a road trip, who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship in the middle of the Australian outback, and end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed.

The 68th annual THEATRE WORLD AWARDS, which will take place on Tuesday, June 5th at 2 pm at The Belasco Theatre, 111 West 44th Street, NYC., will include special performances by Broadway favorites Brian Stokes Mitchell, Michael Cerveris, Howard McGillin and Stephanie Umoh. The by-invitation-only ceremony will present Theatre World Awards to 12 actors for their Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performances during the 2011-2012 theatrical season. The event also includes presentation of the 4th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence. This year The Theatre World Awards will have ASL interpretation.
