The House Theatre of Chicago Presents DORIAN, Now thru 5/18

The House Theatre of Chicago presents DORIAN, a modern adaptation of Oscar Wilde's novel 'The Picture of Dorian Gray.' This famous thriller of Dorian's ill-fated portrait is performed in promenade style. This original play is intended for mature audiences only, and is written by Company Members Ben Lobpries and Tommy Rapley. Company Member Kevin O'Donnell provides the score. Rapley directs and choreographs. The production previews today, April 4 - 13 and opens on Monday April 14 at 7pm at the Chopin Theatre (1543 W. Division St, Chicago). DORIAN will run through May 18, 2014.

Round House Theatre Sets 2014-15 Season: FETCH CLAY, MAKE MAN; RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN & More

Round House Theatre Producing Artistic Director Ryan Rilette today announced the lineup of plays for company's 2014/15 season. During the new season, Round House will produce a modern American classic, a new musical, two contemporary comedies, a potent new drama, and a compelling new version of a classic on its Bethesda stage. One production is an American premiere and four productions are D.C. area premieres.

The House Theatre of Chicago has announced the extension of their all-ages original play, Rose and the Rime, at the Chopin Theatre Upstairs Theatre, 1543 W. Division St., through Sunday, March 23. The play is created by Company Members Chris Matthews, Jake Minton and Artistic Director Nathan Allen, who is also the production's director, choreography by Company Member Tommy Rapley and music by Company Member Kevin O' Donnell. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. Although designed for adults, Rose and The Rime is suitable for kids six and up. The run time is 85 minutes with no intermission. Current ticket prices range from $20 to $40. Ticket prices for the extension (After March 9) range from $20 - $45 (performance schedule remains the same). $10 Student and Industry Same-Day discounted tickets are available for all dates, seats permitting. Olney Theatre Center to Present HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, 1/29-2/23

How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical with two successful Broadway revivals, will open Olney Theatre Center 76th Anniversary Season playing on the Mainstage January 29 - February 23, 2014. How to Succeed follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who climbs the corporate ladder from window washer to high-powered executive with the help of a little handbook called How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Based on the 1952 Shepherd Mead satire, How to Succeed features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert. The New York Times says of How To Succeed, 'It stings mischievously and laughs uproariously […] It belongs to the blue chips among modern musicals.'

The House Theatre of Chicago brings their very favorite myth to life in their signature style. The multi-talented ensemble blends music, swirling acrobatic dance, spectacle, and stage craft to spin this cautionary tale. Set in a "little town by a big lake', young Rose undertakes a brave adventure to rescue a magic coin from the icy clutches of the Rime Witch. She saves her town, but can she change her fate? The all-ages original play by Company Members Nathan Allen, Chris Mathews, and Jake Minton begins performances January 17, 2014 at The Chopin Theatre (1543 W Division St.) and will transfer to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County in April.

The cast of 27 (below, includes 14 new and 13 returning cast members) stars Larry Yando, who most recently appeared in Mary Zimmerman's production of The Jungle Book as Shere Khan, in his sixth turn as Ebenezer Scrooge and 8-year-old Matthew Abraham as Tiny Tim for the second year.
