Sarasota Opera is set to launch a new program this spring with a series of summer concerts entitled Sarasota Opera House PRESENTS. This series will bring Sarasota audiences musical performances of American standards, jazz, rock, bluegrass, country, and more.

The Grammy-nominated Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which captures the infectious fun of big band music, will perform at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00pm.  Jazz Times called the Los Angeles-based band, with a 32-year history, "one of current jazz's most vital large ensemble." Co-founder bassist John Clayton is a CSUN alumnus who has gone on to play with superstars such as Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle and Madonna.

The world premiere recording of original symphonic music by Grammy® Award-winning composer Nan Schwartz will be released on the Divine Art label (DDA 25165) on March 16, 2018. Kevin Purcell conducts the 83-piece Bratislava Studio Symphony Orchestra (Slovakia) and Synchron Stage Orchestra (Vienna). The recording features four works by Ms. Schwartz: Aspirations, Perspectives, Romanza and Angels Among Us, with solo contributions from the Who's-who of New York's finest jazz musicians.

You are invited to the 'Retro Trip' with the Swing Dance Orchestra, which will take you to the swing of the 1930s in America.

On Sunday March 18, 2018 at 4 pm, The Grand 1894 Opera House presents THE ROB LANDES TRIO - THE FABULOUS 50s.

The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra (KSO) Lindy hops back to two Swing Eras for it's November 18th show at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Experience true blasts from the past as the KSO's 18-piece swing band provides a history lesson with the authentic sounds of the original Swing Era (1931-1943); followed the crazy jump tunes of the 1990s revival featuring the 10-piece Covington Devou-Doo Daddies. Learn how the depression, world conflict, and the need for diversion came together to generate the great American musical genre known as Swing.

Celebrate the release of the Mark White Octet's debut recording with a live performance at THE BLACK BOX, downtown Franklin's theater, music and event venue, at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 1. Featuring West Coast Swing with an East Coast vibe, the Octet includes Mark White (guitar), Scott deOgburn (piano), Jon Garniss (trombone), Kenny Hadley (drums), Rick Hammet (trumpet), Arnie Krakowsky (tenor sax), Mark Poniatowski (bass) and Ken Reid (bari sax), world-class musicians whose performance r sum s include a long list of music royalty.
