The 6th Season of The Concerts for City Greens, free outdoor concert series, continues tonight, August 7th at 6:30 pm (Rain date: Thursday, August 8th at 6:30pm.) at Tudor City Greens, with 'AND THE WINNER IS...Featuring Songs from the Songwriting Contest Winner - LARRY KERCHNER', and will feature professional performers from Broadway and the New York City cabaret, jazz, classical and comedy scene. All performers donate their time and talent to benefit MUSIC AND ART FOR GREEN. The concert will be hosted by Tudor City resident, Broadway and cabaret veteran Raissa Katona Bennett.

Maye performed a special one-night-only engagement at The Iridium on July 10. 'Maye Takes Five,' presented by The Iridium and ScoBar Entertainment, featured her trio (pianist/musical director Tedd Firth, bassist Tom Hubbard and drummer Ray Marchica) plus special guests including renowned clarinetist Ken Peplowski and noted trumpet man Brian Pareschi. Two-time Tony Award-winning singer/actress Christine Ebersole joined jazz violinist Aaron Weinstein and his trio for Strings Attached, a special late-afternoon performance at 92nd Street Y oyesterday, May 16 at 4 pm. Ebersole and the trio showcased classics standards from the '20s and '30s by Fats Waller ('Jitterbug Waltz'), Cole Porter 'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye'), Johnny Mercer ('This Time the Dream's on Me') and George Gershwin ('Shall We Dance'). Strings Attached debuted in November 2011 at a sold-out engagement at Birdland Jazz Club; this performance is 92Y's annual Kathryn W. Stein Memorial Concert. Check out photos from the event below!

In the case of Lucie Arnaz, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as the daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz is a consummate entertainer. Her acting and comedic skills come from her mother, but she owes her music and Latin heritage to her father. AN AFTERNOON WITH LUCIE ARNAZ pays tribute to the late Cuban band leader and features a majority of the songs from her 2010 cd "Latin Roots."

Wednesday night was the second of Marilyn Maye's first 54 Below run (which will continue until March 16) and she sashayed around the stage in front of an almost full house like a woman of 35. Like most of her shows, Maye's performance was a 'live' cabaret Master Class for budding cabaret performers and seasoned professionals alike, and this 'Maye-den Voyage' never went adrift (thanks in part to solid and unobtrusive support from Tedd Frith on piano, Tom Hubbard on bass, and Jim Eklof on drums).

The cabaret gods must be smiling on this reviewer because this past Saturday evening my wife and I celebrated her birthday with an intimate dinner in between a couple of totally engaging shows from two lovely ladies of cabaret; the beautiful Jillian Laurain paying homage to classic Broadway show tunes at the Metropolitan Room, and the beguiling Stacy Sullivan in her MAC and BroadwayWorld.com Award-nominated tribute to Peggy Lee, 'It's a Good Day,' at the Cafe Carlyle. For me and the Birthday Girl, it was definitely a good night.
