In a show titled "Singing Again...For the First Time" Marci Kraft, lawyer at the New York Times (and graduate student of Marilyn Maye's master class) performed music of the 20's & 30's last night at DON'T TELL MAMA. Marilyn Maye in addition to her touring schedule conducts Master Classes of Performance across the country and is also an acclaimed vocal coach.
In addition to her New Year's Eve performances at the Metropolitan Room on December 31, Marilyn Maye kept the party going with five unprecedented, by-request shows during the first week of the year. "Marilyn By Request," in which Maye and her Billy Stritch-led band will create a new show based on audience requests, marks her return to her downtown stomping ground. Last night, Friday, November 9th, was beginning of a special engagement of Giselle Wolf Journeys: A Celebration at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, NYC. The three performances are at 7:00 pm and they continue next Wednesday, November 14th; and Thursday, November 15th. Concerts for City Greens, the free outdoor concert series that brings the sounds of music to the heart of Midtown, kicks off its fifth season on Wednesday May 30 at 6:30pm at Tudor City Greens. (Rain date: Thursday May 31 at 6:30pm.) FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY continues its Spring 2012 season with the return engagement of Grammy Award nominated singer and entertainer MARILYN MAYE. Her new show - "The Happiest Sound In Town" - is her annual birthday celebration and features some of her most-requested numbers including "Guess Who I Saw Today," "Bye Bye Country Boy," "Rain" and "Golden Rainbow." Another highlight of the show, "Come In From The Rain," was a personal favorite of Johnny Carson; Maye performed it many times on "The Tonight Show" at his personal invitation. Maye's recent local appearances have been received with rave reviews and full houses. The show runs through Saturday, May 5 at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street). This spring, Kurtzman will release a debut CD, "Just for a Thrill". Ms. Kurtzman will celebrate with a pre-release performance at The Metropolitan Room on April 25th at 9:30pm.
