Old Courthouse Theatre presents the 5th show of its 34th season 'The Boys Next Door'. The place is a group home in a New England city, where four men with either an intellectual disability or a mental illness live under the supervision of an earnest, but increasingly 'burned out' young social worker named Jack.
The Barn will hold auditions for its upcoming production of THE BOYS NEXT DOOR by Tom Griffin on March 22nd and 23rd. The production is directed by Nancy Eppert.
When the Ross Valley Players' play selection committee decided on Tom Griffin's 'The Boys Next Door' as one of the productions for the 2009-2010 season, they had no way of knowing that the production could be linked to a current controversy about a popular TV show.
Tom Griffin's 'The Boys Next Door' will be presented by the Tin Roof Theatre Company and play at the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre from March 14 to March 21.
The Boys Next Door is a play, written by Tom Griffin. It deals with four intellectually disabled men who live in a group home. It takes place over roughly a two month period of time and consists of brief vignettes about their lives. Though the play is quite humorous in its non-mocking way of dealing with the handicapped men in real situations, the play takes a surprising turn as Barry's one-armed father comes to visit, and Jack (their caretaker) accepts a new job.
