Producers of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? have announced that the 50th anniversary Broadway revival has been extended, and is now on sale through February 24, 2013. The production, which was originally on sale through January 27, 2013, officially opened on October 13, 2012, at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street), exactly 50 years to the day of the play's original Broadway opening on Saturday, October 13, 1962.
Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced the line-up for Next Up 2013, the third annual collaboration with Northwestern University's MFA programs in Direction and Design featuring the work of graduates of those programs with casts of professional Chicago actors. Next Up continues Steppenwolf's commitment to Chicago's next generation of theater artists and includes three productions presented in rotating repertory, May 28 - June 16, 2013 in The Steppenwolf Garage (1624 N Halsted St). The directors and designers make their Steppenwolf debut under the mentorship of Steppenwolf staff and artists, including ensemble member Anna D. The first gathering of Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Associate Artists happened on Friday, September 28, 2012 at The Rep's Administrative Offices. 18 of the 19 Artistic Associates either attended in person or attended via teleconference. The gathering was to discuss the future of The Rep as well as the responsibilities of this newly-formed group of theater professionals.

The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced nominations for the 2011-2012 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to an enthusiastic crowd of patrons and theatre industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA. The spacious lobby allowed guests to enjoy drinks, hors d'ouevres and the chance to congratulate their colleagues. Guest announcers, Atlanta's own funny men Bryan Brendle, Bart Hansard, Tony Larkin, Aurora Theatre artistic director Tony Rodriguez and Scott Warren shared the list of nominees while playfully riffing on the 2011/2012 Atlanta theatre season.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater announced today that it will grow its Artistic Family to 19 Associate Artists. This new creative initiative will 'build upon the indelible legacy of The Rep's Acting Company, expanding to include directors, writers, designers and musicians and actors, all of whom will be called Milwaukee Repertory Theater Associate Artists.'
Stephen King and John Mellencamp's new blues and rock musical, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County had its world premiere at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre back in April, and according to Showbiz411 the show is heading to New York soon. Currently onstage at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis is the period musical spectacular Roman Holiday. Based on the iconic film, the show features the music of Cole Porter, including hits like 'Easy to Love,' 'Begin the Beguine,' 'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye' and 'Riding High', in addition to rarely heard gems that fit perfectly into the story. The production began preview performances on June 9 and opens tonight, June 15. The run is scheduled to continue through August 19 on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.
