The Seattle Rep is presenting Michael Hollinger's wonderful new play "Opus" about the behind the scenes drama of a string quartet, and while the ensemble never actually plays a note, they make beautiful music together.

Sex. Lies. Violins. A cast of all-Seattle actors dives into the passionate behind-the-scenes life of a fictional string quartet in Opus at Seattle Repertory Theatre. The play is inspired by violist-turned-playwright Michael Hollinger's own quartet experiences. Opus opens in previews Oct. 30 and plays through Dec. 6 in the intimate Leo K. Theatre. Jerry Manning signed a two-year contract as Seattle Repertory Theatre's producing artistic director, the theatre announced today.

Local favorites, Seattle up-and-comers and a handful of well-known film and Broadway actors will take the stage for Seattle Repertory Theatre's 2009-10 season, the theatre announced today. The season opens Sept. 25 with tickets on sale August 25. Subscriptions are currently available.

Block, a former Intiman Trustee and Director of the Committee to End Homelessness in King County, will be honored for their outstanding contributions to Intiman at the 2009 Gala.

The Intiman's 90 minute adaptation of Dostoyevsky's classic suspense tale, 'Crime and Punishment' is as thought provoking as it is fresh and original. Portrayed by only 3 actors, this morality tale adapted by Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus at times feels more like film noir than a novel from 1866.

Intiman Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Bartlett Sher and Managing Director Brian Colburn, opens its 2009 season with a 90-minute, three-actor version of Dostoyevsky's classic suspense novel Crime and Punishment, adapted by Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus, and directed by Sheila Daniels. Performances will begin at the Intiman Playhouse, 201 Mercer Street at Seattle Center, on Sunday, March 29 and continue through Sunday, May 3.
