Today (9 September 2013) the National Theatre's internationally acclaimed stage production of War Horseannounces the release of over 280,000 new tickets for its West End production, taking bookings at the New London Theatre to 27 October 2014.

As he continues to perform on stage in the West End, Joey, the equine star of the National Theatre's internationally acclaimed stage production War Horse, has been seen throughout the past week catching up with his colleagues throughout the UK, the US, Germany and Australia.

'WAR HORSE' is one of the most phenomenal, intense, visually and emotionally moving, pieces of theatre, that I have ever seen.... The high technical aspects of 'WARHORSE', are so realistically threatening, that at times I found myself gasping and closing my eyes.

One of the fears of seeing a show which I regarded as one of the most mesmerizing that I've ever seen, was that the touring company of WARHORSE would fade by comparison. It did, somewhat, but still came out an exciting winner in the derby called theatre.

It was announced today, 2 October 2012, that The National Theatre's award-winning production of WAR HORSE begins a ten month, nine-venue tour of the UK and Ireland in the autumn of 2013. A highlight of Birmingham Hippodrome's exciting autumn season, WAR HORSE performances run from Thursday 17 October to Saturday 9 November 2013, presented in partnership with Pertemps.

Winner of five 2011 Tony Awards® including Best Play and based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted by Nick Stafford, the tour of War Horse is directed by Bijan Sheibani based on the original Tony Award®-winning direction by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, and presented in association with Handspring Puppet Company of South Africa. Michael Morpurgo's novel, War Horse, is also the inspiration for Steven Spielberg's feature film of the same name, which earned six Academy Award® nominations including Best Picture. This week three new and six returning cast members will join the London company of the National Theatre's internationally acclaimed stage production War Horse at the New London Theatre.

Joey from the National Theatre's acclaimed production of War Horse appeared on stage at the Olympic Park to salute Team GB and the world's athletes. Led by Captain Nicholls (Alex Avery), Joey reared in salute to the crowd at Park Live, which included Zara Phillips who along with her team later won silver in the equestrian events in Greenwich. The Broadway production of War Horse, which continues its run at the Lincoln Center's Vivien Beaumont Theatre, was the winner of six Tony Awards including a Special Tony Award for Handspring Puppet Company. In February of this year War Horse opened to great critical acclaim at The Princess of Wales Theatre, Toronto. War Horse premiered at The National Theatre in October 2007.

Today, 9 July, Paul Bigley (Man) joins other cast members Andrew Alexander (Richard Hannay), Catherine Bailey (Pamela/Annabella/Margaret) and Stephen Critchlow (Man) in the hilarious, multi award-winning comedy, The 39 Steps.
