Interview: Miranda Jonté Has Great Expectations for (RE)DRESSING MISS HAVISHAM

The age-old literary mystery of the circumstances surrounding the death of the perennially wedding-dress-clad Miss Havisham in Charles Dickens’ 1851 novel “Great Expectations” is reexamined through a contemporary lens in “(re)Dressing Miss Havisham,” by local playwright John Minigan, being performed May 19–24 at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre as part of the company’s New Play Incubator program.

Cast and Creative Team Announced for Essential Theatre Group's ZURICH, NEW YORK Play Cycle

'Zurich, New York' is a cycle of three new plays by three playwrights: 'Repast' by Lindsay Joy, 'Rocks' by Charlotte Miller and 'When You Go' by Alex Riad. Each play takes place on the same day on a dock in Zurich: a fictional lake-side town in upstate New York and will be performed at The Tank (on 151 West 46th Street) from May 16-31.

THUNDER ROCK Plays TBG Theatre, 5/3-13

In Thunder Rock, successful author and former Daily News reporter David Charleston becomes disturbed by the state of the world; he takes a job as a lighthouse keeper and the sole resident of Thunder Rock Island. When he notices a memorial plaque dedicated to a sailing ship of immigrants which fatally crashed on the island 90 years prior, he starts to imagine how ideal life was in their time. Soon, they begin appearing to him. At first he controls them, until they decide to teach him about the eternal struggles of life.

ReGroup Announces Production Season: THUNDER ROCK, BIG NIGHT and More

The ReGroup first full season of productions will present a production of Robert Ardrey's THUNDER ROCK, followed by Claire & Paul Sifton's 1931-, and Dawn Powell's BIG NIGHT in November. Besides these productions, The ReGroup will publish the 2ndvolume in their series of Group Theatre plays and present a staged-reading of Nellise Child's WEEP FOR THE VIRGINS over the summer.
