The sex may be in the heels, but in KINKY BOOTS the fun is in Cyndi Lauper's Tony and Grammy Award-winning score, a bouncy pop techno-disco party which keeps the musical's pedestrian plot from (ahem) dragging the show down.

Those signature, red high heels are headed down under! BroadwayWorld has learned that the Tony-winning musical Kinky Boots will make its Australian premiere at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne, from October 2016.

The summer season opens at the Ivoryton Playhouse with the US professional premier of one of the UK's most popular shows, Calendar Girls.  Adapted by Tim Firth from his smash hit Miramax film of the same name, it is based on an inspiring true story about a group of extraordinary women who persuade one another to pose au natural for a charity calendar to raise money to help support a cancer unit.

Tim Firth and Geoff Deane first picked up the true story of W J Brooks and Co., a fifth generation Northamptonshire shoe factory that survived the 1990's by switching from classic brogues to footwear for drag queens after cheap imports flooded the market. The 2005 film Kinky Boots starred Joel Edgerton as factory owner Charlie Price.

Strong performances from Jim Loutzenhiser, Alexander Platt, Brooks Reeves, and Brandon Whitehead can't rescue them from playwright Tim Firth's overlong comedy trying to be a psychological thriller.

Stoneham Theatre has announced its production of the critically-acclaimed dark comedy Neville's Island, by the multi-award-winning writer of Calendar Girls, Tim Firth. Performances run from April 9-26, 2015. Neville's Island premiered in 1992 at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in North Yorkshire, UK. In 1995, it was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy and won Best Play MEN Awards in 2006. It received its North American Premiere in New Mexico at Santa Fe Stages in 1996. Neville's Island was adapted for television in 1998, airing as a TV movie on the UK's ITV. Directed by Stoneham Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes, Neville's Island features an impressive island set, complete with water and a climbable tree, by Scenic Designer Chris Ostrom.

Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, the creators of the new British musical, THE GIRLS, based on the true story, the film and award-winning play by Tim Firth, Calendar Girls, have announced that the world premiere will be at the Grand Theatre Leeds from Saturday 14 November to Saturday 12 December and at the Lowry Salford from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 30 January 2016.

Midway through its first season producing on two stages, Park Square Theatre shows no sign of slowing down with its 2015-2016 theatre season.
