East West Players Announces Playwriting Competition Face of the Future

East West Players, the nation's premier Asian American theatre organization, is pleased to announce Face of the Future, a playwriting competition with cash prizes awarded to the top three plays, including $5,000 for the first place winner, $2,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place.

Asian American Theater Conference and Festival to be Held in LA, 6/16-26

For the first time, the National Asian American Theater Conference and the National Asian American Theater Festival will be held jointly from June 16-25, 2011. The event will be presented in Los Angeles by the Consortium of Asian American Theaters and Artists (CAATA) and hosted by Asian American Theaters East West Players and Teada Productions, both residing in Los Angeles.

This season, themed 'Shake It Up' includes MYSTERIOUS SKIN by Prince Gomolvilas based on the novel by Scott Heim, CRIMES OF THE HEART by Beth Henley, WRINKLES by Paul Kikuchi, and KRUNK FU BATTLE BATTLE with book by Qui Nguyen, lyrics by Beau Sia and vocal music by Marc Macalintal.

The cast of the production includes Sab Shimono, Amy Hill, Elizabeth Ho, Ki Hong Lee, Scott Keiji Takeda, and Lisa Dring. Generous support for this production is provided by the S. Mark Taper Foundation Endowment for East West Players.
