Meet fledgling doo-wop singing group the Crooning Crabcakes as they prepare to enter the Big Whopper Radio contest and realize their dreams of making it to the big time, International City Theatre opens its 34th season with the delightful, award-winning jukebox musicalLife Could Be A Dream, written and created by Roger Bean. Directed byJamie Torcellini and with musical direction by Bill Wolfe, performances take place Feb. 22 through March 10 at ICT's home in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. Veteran comedy screenwriting partners Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel, known for such acclaimed box-office hits as Splash and Parenthood, have been named the recipients of the Writers Guild of America West's 2019 Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement, presented to Guild members who have “advanced the literature of motion pictures and made outstanding contributions to the profession of the screenwriter.”

Studio Theatre (FST) kicks off its 5th Summer Sidekicks Cabaret Series with the high energy music revue Carole's Kings. Honoring one of the most cherished and revered singer-songwriters of the 20th century, this cabaret transports audiences back in time to when Carole King was queen of the airwaves. Carole's Kings opens in FST's John C. Court Cabaret on June 14, and is part of a 3-show Summer Cabaret subscription package, which can be purchased for as little as $49.

The musical Finding Neverland is about holding fast to the child inside of us that believes in magic - and magic really only works when it is paired with heart. The same heart that makes us unashamedly cry out 'I Believe' and claps till Tinker Bell is resuscitated before our very eyes. The fantasy of J.M. Barrie's Neverland awaits you at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in this NETworks Presentations, LLC production of the musical Finding Neverland featuring music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kenned, and a book by James Graham.

Most of us have grown up with the story of Peter Pan; the story of a young boy who can fly, who never grows up and lives in Neverland, which can be found at the second star to the right. We heard it as a bedtime story, or enjoyed seeing Walt Disney bring the story to animated life, or even, if we were lucky, got to see it performed live on stage with actors flying about the audience. It is a magical story to be sure, one that has transcended time and elicits memories of a simpler time.

FINDING NEVERLAND was born across the river in Cambridge at the American Repertory Theater three years ago, but has settled in for a fortnight in the downtown Boston Theater district. Under the direction of Diane Paulus, with choreography by Mia Michaels, the original design team remains intact, and an all-new cast brings the familiar characters to life. Broadway veterans Billy Harrigan Tighe, Lynnfield native Christine Dwyer, and John Davidson headline the multi-talented ensemble.

Based on the Academy Award-winning Miramax motion picture by David Magee, and the play The Man Who Was Peter Pan by Allan Knee, FINDING NEVERLAND follows the relationship between playwright J.M. Barrie and the family that inspired Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up - one of the most beloved stories of all time.

Omaha Performing Arts is pleased to announce tickets for FINDING NEVERLAND go on sale to the public on Friday July 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM. FINDING NEVERLAND will play Omaha's Orpheum Theater, 409 South 16th Street, Wednesday, October 11 through Sunday, October 15, 2017.

I always find it exciting to see a musical I know nothing about and FINDING NEVERLAND fits that bill. I remember watching Jennifer Hudson sing 'Neverland' on the 2014 Tony Awards and recall watching the cast perform on the NBC 'Thanksgiving Day Parade' in November, 2014. The cast included Matthew Morrison, Kelsey Grammer, Laura Michelle Kelly and Carolee Carmello. However, the Tony Awards snubbed the musical with no nominations. After seeing the show this week, I do not understand why. I found the musical absolutely wonderful and worthy of a Tony nomination for Best Musical. FUN HOME won the Tony for Best Musical in 2015 beating out SOMETHING ROTTEN!, THE VISIT, and AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. There were no nominations for FINDING NEVERLAND.
