The 2013 New York International Fringe Festival's Producing Artistic Director Elena K. Holy announced this year's recipients of the festival's Overall Excellence Awards on August 25 at a ceremony held at the New York night club The Cutting Room. An independent panel of over 40 theater professionals selected the winners from among the festival's 185 entrants. Among those 185 shows was The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever produced by Maryland Ensemble Theatre's family theatre, The Fun Company. The show was also among those whose name was announced at the ceremony on the 25th, winning an Overall Excellence Award for an Ensemble. Scroll down for photos of the cast and crew in NYC!

It's time to be brave...again. The Fun Company's hit family show The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever is back by popular demand. In April of 2012 the show by playwright Sarah Shulman made its World Premiere on Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) stage to packed houses and rave reviews. 'The Young Olympians was a serendipitous triumph of words music and performance...take everyone from toddler to grandparent, aunts and uncles, teens and random folk you meet on the street. You'll be glad you did.,' proclaimed Charlie Smith of Want2Dish. Audiences will have the opportunity once again to enjoy the heroic achievement of The Young Olympian's when it returns to the MET stage at the historic FSK Hotel (31 W Patrick) in downtown Frederick for six performances today, June 21 through the 30.

Yoni Gras, a weekend of music featuring some of Frederick's finest local bands, is returning to Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) for the second straight summer. Silent Old Mtns, and Old Indian who played the inaugural Yoni Gras in July of 2011 will be joined by newcomers to the festival, Lucas and the Lovelys, Violet Overnight, Honeyhound, and Adrienne and the Merrylanders. Yoni Gras will take place on Friday and Saturday at 9pm on the weekend of June 15 at MET, located in the historic FSK Hotel at 31 W Patrick Street. Doors open at 8:30pm and tickets are just $5 or $7 for both nights. Beer and wine is available but the show itself is open to all ages.

'The title says it all, the Jamboree is sure to have you busting a gut, tapping your toes, singing along and pulling the straw from your teeth. The show will feature hilarious original sketches and a revolving roster of guest artists and musical acts.' Directed by MET Artistic Director Tad Janes and Associate Artistic Directors Gené Fouché and Julie Herber, the show runs from May 10 through June 3 every Thursday through Sunday at the MET, located in the historic FSK hotel at 31 W Patrick Street.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents a new world premiere adaptation of Sophocles' tragic classic greek tragedy, Antigone, which pits the courageous title character against King Creon and the laws of Thebes in defense of her brother's honor with fatal consequences. Antigone will run from March 22nd to April 15th every Thursday through Sunday except Easter (4/8) at Maryland Ensemble Theatre (31 W. Patrick St. Frederick MD 21701). All shows are at 8pm except Sundays at 7pm and one Sunday matinee at 2pm on April 1 which will be followed by a talk back with the writer, director, cast and special guest Linda Pappas Funsch, a Middle East scholar from Frederick Community College . Tickets are $15 - $24 (except $5 preview performance on 3/22) and may be purchased online at marylandensemble.org, by phone at (301) 694-4744 or in person at the MET box office. The opening will be celebrated on Sunday, March 25th at 6pm with a pre-show reception catered by The Greene Turtle preceding the performance at 7pm.
