Truvillion, Genet, And Gupton Join The Cast Of INKED BABY

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, has announced additional casting and complete details for the World Premiere of INKED BABY, a new play by 2007 Susan Smith Blackburn nominee Christina Anderson in her Off-Broadway playwriting debut. Directed by Kate Whoriskey (Fabulation at Playwrights Horizons, the current Ruined at MTC), the production will begin previews on Thursday, March 5, 2009 with an Opening Night set for Monday, March 23 at 7PM. The limited engagement will run through Sunday, April 5 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

BAD DATES Brings Its Sass To The Tom Hendry Theater 2/19-3/7

February 19 to March 7 are sure to be good dates at the Tom Hendry Theatre at the MTC Warehouse with Bad Dates, the hilariously sassy one-woman show by Theresa Rebeck. Starring Precious Chong, Bad Dates was the 2009 MTC Regional Tour, traveling to 21 communities throughout Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. The story: Haley, single mother and waitress on the rise, has decided to dip her Jimmy Choos into the New York dating pool. Although she's optimistic by nature, Haley's faith in humanity is seriously challenged by a string of bad dates and a brush with the Romanian mafia. But then, if life always went smoothly, we wouldn't have any stories to tell, would we?

Ron Holgate Replaces Tony Roberts in HEROES

Keen Company announced today that Tony Award-winner Ron Holgate (1776, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Grand Hotel, recent revivals of Kiss Me, Kate and Guys and Dolls) will join John Cullum and Jonathan Hogan for its upcoming production of Heroes, replacing previously announced Tony Roberts. Mr. Roberts has withdrawn from the production to attend to family matters. The New York premiere of this 2006 Olivier Award-winning play by Gerald Sibleyras with a translation by Tom Stoppard, will be helmed by Keen Artistic Director Carl Forsman and run from February 24 - April 11 at The Clurman Theatre / Theatre Row ( 410 West 42nd Street ). The official opening is set for March 8.

SHNSF Premiere of 'EVER AFTER' Musical Cancelled, Creative Team Continues to Develop Project

BroadwayWorld has learned that the planned San Francisco 'Best of Broadway' series world premiere engagement of the musical EVER AFTER, based on the popular 1998 Twentieth Century Fox film has been indefinitely postponed. Shorenstein Hays Nederlander Theatres, overseen by Carole Shorenstein Hays and Robert Nederlander, was set to present EVER AFTER this April as part of their 2009 season. EVER AFTER producer Adam Epstein (Hairspray, The Wedding Singer, Cry-Baby) said in a statement, 'The previously announced production of EVER AFTER has been moved from this season's line up as the creative team continues to develop the musical for a future production.'

George Street Playhouse begins 2009 with its production of Donald Marguiles' Sight Unseen. When first presented in 1992, the play won the OBIE Award for Best New American Play, was nominated for a Drama Desk, and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. George Street Playhouse Artistic Director will helm the production, slated to run at the New Brunswick theatre January2020 - February 15, 2009. Matthew Arkin, last seen at GSP in their production of Theresa Rebeck's The Scene, leads an ensemble including Heidi Armbruster, Christopher Curry and Kathleen McNenny.
