BWW Interview: First Date: MSMT & Lewiston's Public Theatre Co-Produce GREASE

"It's like a first date, " says Christopher Schario, Executive/artistic Director of Lewiston's Public Theatre. "It's a total cross population between our institutions and our audiences," he adds. Maine State Music Director Curt Dale Clark concurs: "This co-production is helping the arts in both our communities. It's upping the ante and providing more opportunities for people to enjoy live theatre," The two artistic heads , together with the leads of the production Tanner Callicutt and Katie Brnjac are chatting with Broadway World about the first-ever collaboration between the two theatres, a new staging of the musical GREASE, performed at The Public Theatre June 18-30, 2019.

Dames at Sea opened at Theatre at the Center in Munster on Sunday night, May 5. Director and Artistic Director Linda Fortunato cast Kelly Felthous as Ruby, Todd Aulwurm as Dick, Colette Todd as Mona Kent, Sierra Schnack as Joan, Sam Shankman as Lucky, and Steven Strafford as Hennesey and The Captain in the spring musical production.  Dames at Sea and continues through June 2.

Jo, a recent divorcee, arrives for her first session with Carl Zimmerman, a Cape Town psychologist. Carl's consulting room is on the corner of Loop and Strand and apart from the expected couch contains a Steinway baby-grand. (Carl is also a wannabe songwriter and often surprises his clients by using music therapy to work through their divorce issues.) In one 70mn musical rollercoaster-ride they laugh, cry, share and lay bare their broken hearts through song and chat and by the end of the session we could almost believe that these two total strangers are ready to fall in love again.

Touring Tapper to Stage WHITE CHRISTMAS Tap Dances at The Firehouse Theatre This Winter

Mandy Modic spent 2015-2016 traveling the country in her tap shoes as Gladys in Mark Bramble and Randy Skinner's 42ND STREET. The gig that followed was the same show, but a highly publicized reenvisioned production at Drury Lane Theatre in Illinois (where she played Lorraine), which has reportedly been eyeing a Broadway transfer. She's performed professionally with The Marriot Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, The Paramount Theatre, Theatre at the Center, The Wick Theatre, Mill Mountain Theatre, and Little Theatre on the Square and internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe, not to mention a co-starring role on NBC's short-lived The Playboy Club.

1992 Bosnia, a bloody civil war begins. Cheers to Sarajevo tells the story of two lovers. A Bosnian Muslim and a Bosnian Serb. A love story. In the days of Yugoslavia their differing ethnicities was accepted as a norm in the cosmopolitan city of Sarajevo. Told through the lens of an ambitious South African conflict journalist who infiltrates their lives we follow the slow but steady decline of a lifelong friendship. Theirs is a story known to many Yugoslavs who were separated from one another and who turned on each other during a senseless war. It is a story known to people all over the world who are torn apart because of race, religion and the mass media that use war as their fodder.

BWW Review: FORBIDDEN BROADWAY opens the new District Theatre
