BWW Review: DANTE'S IN-FURLOUGH, The Vaults

There’s no better climate than a global pandemic for the Devil to get married, don’t you think? And they (yes, they - if we need to have one genderqueer character on the theatre scene, it definitely needs to be Lucifer) are inviting you to their hellish royal wedding reception. Dante’s In-Furlough makes for an irreverent, naughty, boisterous, and appetisingly foul-mouthed adventure. A soul-binding contract, an uncooperative fiancée, and plenty of infernal fun await the guests at The Vaults.

Hurrah for the green shoots in our beleaguered industry. Lots of venues are mounting new shows and bringing back our favourites over the next few weeks and months - albeit with social distancing and safety measures in place. Here are some of the live theatrical goodies on offer.

Interview | CEO and Artistic Director of Anywhere Festival, Paul Osuch

Next up on my Brisbane local artists interview segment is the incredibly hardworking and generous CEO and Artistic Director of Anywhere Festival, Paul Osuch. This is probably one of my favourite interviews I've done and I really cherish Paul's vulnerability and openness in his responses. Here's what he had to say...

Gloria Loring Releases 'The Best Of Me' September 18

There is something beautiful about artists whose insight into the human condition allows them to create works that, even beyond their original intention, emotionally and intuitively meet the moment and help us through the tough times. Long one of the entertainment industry's ultimate hyphenates - singer, songwriter, actress, stage performer, author, healthcare advocate and keynote speaker – Gloria Loring works this magic with just a few inspiring lines from “Rise,” her rousing anthem on her highly anticipated new EP The Best of Me, set for release September 18.

ELEPHANT'S GRAVEYARD Will Livestream This Month

Since early March, Toronto's theatre scene has been upended due to social distancing rules in place because of the pandemic. For many companies, this meant putting shows, concerts, and seasons on hold, but for Naomi Campbell, the Artistic Director of Toronto's Luminato Festival, it meant having to reimagine what the festival could look like in such strange times.
