BWW Review: NSO POPS: DIANA ROSS - MUSIC BOOK 2020 at Kennedy Center

There are certain artists whose names immediately fall in the 'legend' category and Diana Ross is one of them. Though no proof is needed, she is even a Kennedy Center Honoree, Grammy Award Winner, Tony Award Winner, and Oscar and Golden Globe Nominee. Her career spans over 50 years and dates back to the Motown era, as one of the most famous acts during that time. I was watching a Motown special a couple of weeks ago and Motown founder, Berry Gordy commented that 'Diana Ross and the Supremes' were the 'number one act' for Motown during its success period. Diana Ross is back in 2020 and dazzling more than ever before at seventy-five years old lighting up the Kennedy Center Stage with grace and incredible vocals.

12 Days of Christmas with Norm Lewis: The Supremes Sing 'My Favorite Things'

The Supremes' 'Merry Christmas' album was the first one off the shelf every year, which in my house, growing up, marked the official beginning of the holiday season. We would trim the tree to this record and others to come. This is my absolute favorite and why I have sung that song now for years. In this video, they perform the song on The Ed Sullivan Show, with the ORIGINAL Supremes: Diana Ross, Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson. It aired on CBS on Dec. 4, 1966, and was unforgettable ... and indicative of the kind of preparation that was paid attention to by Motown, in presenting all of their acts.

Cindy Lee Announces New Album 'What's Tonight To Eternity'

For Patrick Flegel, Cindy Lee is more than just a pop music project but rather an intimate extension of a life long exploration of recording art, the electric guitar, queer identity and gender expression. Inspired by among countless others, Kenneth Anger, Karen Carpenter and Akihiro Miwa, the new album What's Tonight To Eternity is the culmination and realization of their deepest feelings, fears and desires spawned from a lifetime overcoming severe mental health issues and gender dysphoria. “Singers like Patsy Cline and The Supremes carried me through the hardest times of my life, and also provided the soundtrack to the best times,” they explain.

BWW Review: A MOTOWN CHRISTMAS at Signature Theatre

Because Christmas is mandatory on entertainment stages all month, it's no surprise that a cabaret at Signature Theatre is again devoted to the Yuletide songbook.
