The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced that upcoming performances of The Comedy of Errors have been cancelled due to Covid-19 cases in the company. Performances are cancelled from Wednesday, December 15 through Wednesday December 22. They hope to reopen on Thursday, December 23. 

From Wednesday 15 December, all audience members over the age of 18 attending The Magician’s Elephant in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre will be required to provide proof of a current lateral flow test result (taken within the previous 48 hours of their visit) or of their double vaccination status before being able to enter the building, unless otherwise exempt.

Helen Mirren has been named the 57th recipient of SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award. Mirren appeared as Queen Elizabeth II on Broadway in The Audience, a play by Peter Morgan, directed by Stephen Daldry,winning the 2015 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role

Musical Theatre Network (MTN), Mercury Musical Developments (MMD) & British Youth Music Theatre (BYMT) have announced that Jordan Paul Clarke will be the Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer on placement at BYMT commencing in January 2022.

With music and lyrics by Australian comedian and songwriter Tim Minchin and based on the book by Roald Dahl, “Matilda The Musical” tells the story of a remarkable little girl named Matilda Wormwood and her gallant struggle to create a better life for herself, despite the best efforts of the maliciously misguided adults determined to thwart her.

A new behind-the-scenes video from the 10th birthday press day was released, featuring interviews with Tim Minchin (music and lyrics), Dennis Kelly (writer), Catherine Mallyon (Executive Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company), Elliot Harper (Miss Trunchbull) and Landi Oshinowo (Mrs Phelps).

Three-time Olivier award-winning Alex Jennings will lead the cast in the world premiere of The Southbury Child, the new play by BAFTA winner Stephen Beresford.  Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the production will play at the Bridge Theatre next summer following an opening run at Chichester Festival Theatre.

The Mirror and the Light, currently running at the Gielgud Theatre in London's West End, has entered its final four weeks with its last performance on Sunday 28th November 2021. Northern Stage will produce a magical new adaptation of family favourite The Sorcerer's Apprentice this Christmas (27 November - 31 December). Set in the streets of Newcastle but not quite as we know it, audiences will be treated to live music, puppetry, magic and illusion as they follow the adventures of Hatty Rabbit and her friends after a mysterious letter arrives inviting Hatty to an interview for a sorcerer's apprentice...

As part of the 10th birthday celebrations for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Matilda The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, the show has released new production photography of the London cast.
