The Exponential Festival 2019 Presents DUET-ED

The Exponential Festival, a month-long January festival for NYC-based emerging artists working in experimental performance, is proud to present the world premiere production of Duet-ed by What Holds Heat. What Holds Heat is a collaboration between Nic Adams (Icarus in the L.E.S.) and Cori Marquis (Cori Marquis + the Nines [IX] and LMnO3). Of their works, they write, "Our kinetic and experiential works of performance seek to extend the boundaries of theatre and expand its power for our audience. Our ensemble-based theatre prioritizes impressionistic storytelling, with subjects ranging from the intimate to the fantastical, while always being grounded in the complexity of human relationships." Since 2015, What Holds Heat has produced three original works for the stage, at venues like Dixon Place, The Bushwick Starr (as part of Target Margin Theater's Stein Labs), and Vital Joint.

The Old Globe in association with Yonge Street Theatricals will present a by-invitation-only industry reading of the new musical Life After on Thursday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. and Friday, December 7 at Noon at Ripley Grier Studios in New York City. The reading will help the creative team prepare for the musical's upcoming American premiere this winter at The Old Globe in San Diego, where it will run from March 22 to April 28, 2019. 

HAMILTON Announces Lottery Details For Peace Center Engagement

Producer Jeffrey Seller and the Peace Center announce a digital lottery for HAMILTON tickets will begin in conjunction with the show's first performance (December 4) in Greenville at the Peace Center. Forty (40) tickets will be sold for every performance for $10 each. The digital lottery will open at 11:00 AM ET on Sunday, December 2 for tickets to the Tuesday, December 4 performance. Subsequent digital lotteries will begin two days prior to each performance.

He weaves together his past and present to interrogate our desperate need for significance, in life and after death, and mythologizes the everyday experience of a common Black man in America. Directed by Zoey Martinson, with music composed and performed by Emily Gardner Xu Hall, Black Is Beautiful, But It Ain't Always Pretty is an epic poem about fulfilling one's purpose-if there is any-before time runs out. The clock is ticking.

Juilliard Dance, under the leadership of Alicia Graf Mack, opens its season with New Dances: Edition 2018 featuring four world-premiere dances by innovative choreographers Marcus Jarrell Willis (whose dance features the first-year class); Nelly van Bommel (featuring the second-year class); Juilliard alumnus Peter Chu (featuring the third-year class); and Stefanie Batten Bland (featuring the fourth-year class). Each choreographer works with one of the classes for the semester creating the new work; all Juilliard's dancers participate in the New Dances program.

'Before This New Year,' a coming-of-age identity and right-of-first-passage love story by playwright Liana Sonenclar, will play a reading for industry on Monday, November 19th at 7 PM, at the Jerry Orbach Theater at the Theater Center at 210 West 50th Street, and will feature a notable cast. The play is helmed by director Kimberly Loren Eaton, who has been working on the development of the piece with Sonenclar the past several months through her creative development and production company Theatrum Mundi Productions.

Two River Theater Presents August Wilson's KING HEDLEY II

Marking the halfway point in its commitment to present all 10 plays of August Wilson's American Century Cycle, Two River Theater announces the complete cast and creative team for its production of Wilson's "exhilarating" (The New York Times) and incendiary drama King Hedley II, directed by Brandon J. Dirden. For the first time, the theater will be presenting one of Wilson's plays in its intimate 110-seat Marion Huber Theater, with performances beginning on November 10 and continuing for an extended five-week run through Sunday, December 16.
