The new Billie Holiday musical Lady Day starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater, opened last night, October 3 at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical makes its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier 'Best Actress in a Musical' Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. St. Ann's Warehouse begins its 2013-14 season with the American Premiere of the Donmar Warehouse's highly acclaimed, all-female production of Julius Caesar, tonight, October 3 - November 3. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, an ensemble including Harriet Walter (Brutus), Frances Barber (Caesar), Jenny Jules (Cassius) and Cush Jumbo (Mark Antony) play prisoners and guards performing Shakespeare's great tragedy in the hard, grim surroundings of a women's prison.

It's Official! Michelle Williams to Star Opposite Alan Cumming in CABARET, Opening April 24 at Studio 54

Roundabout Theatre Company has officially announced that Oscar nominee Michelle Williams will star for the first time on Broadway as 'Sally Bowles' in its upcoming production of Cabaret. She will take the stage at Studio 54 alongside Alan Cumming as the Emcee, reprising the role that won him a Tony Award in 1998.

The curtain will rise for preview performances for the new Billie Holiday musical Lady Day starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater on Thursday, September 19th (7PM) at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical will make its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier "Best Actress in a Musical" Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. Donmar Cancels Performances of THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME Due to Daniel Mays Injury

The Donmar Warehouse has cancelled a number of performances of THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME up to and including the evening performance on Wednesday 21 August. This is due to Daniel Mays (playing Andrew Eagleman) being incapacitated by an injury.

Sam Mendes is best known for whis work as the artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse, and his direction of the film American Beauty and the Broadway production of Cabaret on Broadway starring Alan Cumming. His production of Oliver! became the longest running show ever to play at the London Palladium. Additional stage credits includeTennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, Stephen Sondheim's Company (which had the first ever African American 'Bobby'), Alan Bennett's Habeas Corpus and his farewell duo of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya and Twelfth Night, which transferred to the Brooklyn Academy Of Music and Gypsy on Broadway starring Bernadette Peters.

President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, Visits Donmar Warehouse

On Tuesday 16 July the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, visited the Donmar Warehouse where he enjoyed an evening performance of The Night Alive, the latest play from Irish playwright Conor McPherson. After the production the President met the cast and crew of the production backstage before having his photo taken on the stage of one of London's leading producing theatres.

David Ayers (Wicked and SILENCE!) in the role of 'Robert,' Billie Holiday's Manager along with newcomer Rafael Poueriet in the role of the 'Assistant Stage manager' as well as Jim Cammack (veteran bass player for legendary jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal), Ken Hitchcock (NY Saxophone Quartet & Manhattan Jazz Orchestra's acclaimed tenor sax player), Jerome Jennings (performer & drummer for Benny Golson and Sonny Rollins) and Bill Jolly (three-time Emmy Award winning pianist/composer/arranger) in the speaking roles of the onstage musicians complete the acting ensemble for the upcoming Billie Holiday musical 'Lady Day' starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater. With an opening set for Thursday, October 3rd (6:30PM) the production will take residence at Times Square's Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Conor McPherson's scintillating new drama, The Night Alive, is by turns surprising, abhorrent and profound. An uncommonly tangible play, this is a must-see for anyone who wants to be up to date with contemporary theatre. The Night Alive runs at the Donmar Warehouse until 27 July 2013 and is unsuitable for young audiences.
