The new Billie Holiday musical Lady Day starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater, opened last night, October 3 at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical makes its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier 'Best Actress in a Musical' Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. St. Ann's Warehouse begins its 2013-14 season with the American Premiere of the Donmar Warehouse's highly acclaimed, all-female production of Julius Caesar, tonight, October 3 - November 3. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, an ensemble including Harriet Walter (Brutus), Frances Barber (Caesar), Jenny Jules (Cassius) and Cush Jumbo (Mark Antony) play prisoners and guards performing Shakespeare's great tragedy in the hard, grim surroundings of a women's prison.

The curtain will rise for preview performances for the new Billie Holiday musical Lady Day starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater on Thursday, September 19th (7PM) at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical will make its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier "Best Actress in a Musical" Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. Nick Payne's new play, The Same Deep Water As Me, is highly relevant, dealing with unpleasant contemporary realities - yet leaves you with an overwhelming sense of hilarity. Beautifully performed and directed throughout, this is a wonderful production. The Same Deep Water As Me will run at the Donmar Warehouse until September 28

Sam Mendes is best known for whis work as the artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse, and his direction of the film American Beauty and the Broadway production of Cabaret on Broadway starring Alan Cumming. His production of Oliver! became the longest running show ever to play at the London Palladium. Additional stage credits includeTennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, Stephen Sondheim's Company (which had the first ever African American 'Bobby'), Alan Bennett's Habeas Corpus and his farewell duo of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya and Twelfth Night, which transferred to the Brooklyn Academy Of Music and Gypsy on Broadway starring Bernadette Peters.

On Tuesday 16 July the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, visited the Donmar Warehouse where he enjoyed an evening performance of The Night Alive, the latest play from Irish playwright Conor McPherson. After the production the President met the cast and crew of the production backstage before having his photo taken on the stage of one of London's leading producing theatres.

Conor McPherson's scintillating new drama, The Night Alive, is by turns surprising, abhorrent and profound. An uncommonly tangible play, this is a must-see for anyone who wants to be up to date with contemporary theatre. The Night Alive runs at the Donmar Warehouse until 27 July 2013 and is unsuitable for young audiences.
