Movers and Shakers! NNPN Announces 2017-18 Grant Recipients and More

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 2017-18 grant recipients, including the 2017 Smith Prize for Political Theatre, seven Producer Residencies, and five Collaboration Fund awards that will support partnerships between multiple Member Theaters, playwrights, and other theater makers in various projects.

Palm Beach Dramaworks to Continue 'Pay Your Age' Initiative and More with SWEENEY TODD

Arts organizations throughout the country are on a constant quest to attract newer, younger, and more diverse audiences while maintaining their longtime, loyal supporters. Palm Beach Dramaworks is no exception. For a while now, PBD has been running a Pay Your Age initiative on select Sunday evenings for anyone 40 and under. The response has been so strong that, beginning with the run of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd (July 14 - August 6), and continuing throughout the 2017 - 2018 season, Pay Your Age tickets will be available for all performances. Several additional outreach ventures are under consideration for the upcoming season as well.

CUNY TV to Salute 2017 Tony Awards with Tonys Weekend Marathon

CUNY TV will salute the upcoming 2017 Tony Awards with a new TONY Preview Special on ARTS IN THE CITY, plus a new 2017 TONY Predictions episode and a new TONY Time Critics panel, both on THEATER TALK. In addition, CUNY TV will present a marathon showing of THEATER TALK 2016-17 episodes and other programs related to this year's Tony nominees - all leading up to 8pm on June 11 when the annual TONY AWARDS Ceremony begins on CBS.

The award for best play carries a cash prize of $2,500. The prize is made possible by a grant from the Lucille Lortel Foundation.
