Theatre Communications Group Releases Two Theater Stability Reports

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for professional, not-for-profit theatre, releases the report, Taking Your Fiscal Pulse-Spring 2010, an analysis of data from the recent TCG snapshot survey of the same name.

Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company Releases Green Theater Choices Toolkit

Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company, San Diego's community-focused, socially-conscious, Equity theater company, today announced the completion of their Green Theater Choices Toolkit, a series of scorecards that rates the environmental impact of materials used in theater production. TGC Honors American Theatre Magazine, Publishes The American Theatre Reader

To mark AMERICAN THEATRE magazine's 25th Anniversary in April 2009, Theatre Communications Groups (TCG) honored the publication by publishing The American Theatre Reader, a 640-page compilation of significant and insightful articles, essays and interviews from the magazine's first quarter century.

TCG's Free Night Of Theater "Brings It" To New York City On 10/15

TCG?s fifth annual Free Night of Theater will have its NYC launch with a day-long celebration in Union Square on October 15 from 12:00PM until 6:00PM. Topping last year?s event in scope, scale and vision, this Union Square Free Night of Theater Celebration will have booths, art installations, and performances ? both scheduled and spontaneous ? as well as guest speakers including theatre artists and local politicians. The park will be transformed into a theatrical street fair with a performance stage and roving artists - under a canopy of colorful vibrant umbrellas. Programming for all ages will take place throughout the day and surprises are guaranteed. This event allows NYC theatre artists to come together as a community and share their gifts with the general public.

$3.5 Million Extended to TCG for New Generations Program

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) announced that it is the recipient of a re-granting award from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The grants represent renewed and increased support for TCG's three-pronged New Generations Program: Future Leaders, Future Audiences and Future Collaborators.

Gisela Cardenas, Lear deBessonet, And Michael Goldfried Among TCG's 2009 Recipients Of The NEA/TCG Career Development Program For Directors

Twelve early-career directors and designers have been selected for the 2009 NEA/TCG Career Development Programs for Theatre Directors and Designers. The recipients were chosen by an independent, national selection panel composed of theatre professionals. These programs are administered by TCG, in association with the National Endowment for the Arts, with major support from The Ford Foundation.

Steppenwolf's Lavey Named New TCG Board President

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce its new board of directors' leadership team and new members. Martha Lavey, artistic director of Steppenwolf Theatre Company, will assume the position of board president.

By September 2008, unemployment was the highest it had been since 2003 (84,000 lost jobs in August 2008); Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were under Government conservatorship; the Bank of America acquired Merrill Lynch; Lehman Brothers was about to declare bankruptcy; and our economy had been reeling from the sub-prime mortgage crisis for over a year. Theatre Facts 2008 reports that the not-for-profit theatre field although also shaken by the state of the union, increased its contribution to the economy to 1.9 billion and offered 202,000 performances that attracted 32 million attendees.

TCG Announces 2009 Conference ROOTS. RENAISSANCE. REVOLUTION

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for professional, not-for-profit theatre announces its 2009 conference: Roots. Renaissance. Revolution. From June 4-6, 2009, the theatre community will come together in Baltimore to investigate how generational perspectives affect the entire field, including the choice of plays produced, the atmosphere created in workplaces, the appeal of various leadership styles, and the processes used to identify, attract and retain audiences.
