Curtis Drake Shepard brings his bold acting style and a fifty-six minute tour-de-force solo performance in UnMasked to the Chicago Fringe Festival, downtown Chicago, IL, now through September 9, 2012. Playing eight characters whose stories are told with poetic humor and brutal honesty, Shepard, who also wrote the script, will present five performances of UnMasked at Both Sides Art Gallery.

As the country prepares for the 2012 presidential election, Texas Performing Arts welcomes one of America's premiere artists, Laurie Anderson, performing her intimate but volatile piece, Dirtday! Anderson looks at politics, theories of evolution, families, history, and animals in this riotous and soulful collection of songs and stories. As Anderson says, "Politicians are essentially story tellers. They describe the world as it is and also as they think it should be. As a fellow story teller, it seems like a really good time to think about how words can literally create the world."

Apple junkie Mike Daisey's controversial first-person retelling of stories from the Foxconn factory in China where most of the world's electronic gadgets are produced, The Agony and The Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, will open Actors Theatre's 2012-13 season, Sept. 21 to Oct. 7, on Stage West of the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe.

The exhibition Coal & Steel, Sources & Uses, is on view at the Susan Teller Gallery now through August 29, 2012. The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) will begin previews on Monday, August 6 for The Mobile Shakespeare Unit's RICHARD III, directed by Amanda Dehnert. Following a three-week tour, bringing free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts, RICHARD III will run at The Public Theater through Saturday, August 25, with an official press opening on Saturday, August 11. Tickets are $15 and on sale now.

Anthony Freud, general director of Lyric Opera of Chicago, announced today the creative team and performance dates for Oklahoma! The classic American musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II will receive its Lyric Opera premiere in May 2013, following the company's regular opera season.

FX's SONS OF ANARCHY was the closing act in Hall H at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego. In addition to treating fans to a clip from the upcoming season, the cable network announced a premiere date of September 11 for the series.
