S&Co Announces Added Performance Date For CREDITORS

By popular demand, Shakespeare & Company adds an additional performance of August Strindberg's dark comedy Creditors, adapted by playwright David Greig and directed by Nicole Ricciardi. In this production of what Strindberg calls his 'most mature work,' three characters must face their past, confronting love, debt, and deception. The added performance of this critically acclaimed hit will take place on August 8 at 3pm in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre. Performances run through August 12.

That "Wells Fargo Wagon" is rolling into town as Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT) presents the Meredith Willson's classic  The Music Man Jr.. August 3-12.  Performances are Fridays at 7:00 pm, Saturdays at 3:00 and 7:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm. Shakespeare & Company presents William Shakespeare's beloved comedy As You Like It, directed by the Company's Artistic Director Allyn Burrows, who helmed last season's acclaimed production of The Tempest. The Bard's madcap story follows Rosalind, played by two-time Elliot Norton Award winner Aimee Doherty, who escapes a threatening world of oppression in the pursuit of love and the prospect of new horizons. Set in the Roaring Twenties, As You Like It will be performed outdoors in The Roman Garden Theatre, specially reconfigured for the season's special sunset performances running from August 9 to September 2.

BWW Review: The Late Michael Friedman's GONE MISSING Evokes an Emotional Response From Encores! Off-Center Audience

The person seated in the back of the orchestra section on opening night of the Encores! Off-Center concert mounting of GONE MISSING, who was loudly sobbing during the closing song, was by no means causing a disturbance. In fact, the choked-up moans of heartbreak being emitted throughout New York City Center's auditorium many times during the performance were simply bringing to the surface the sadness that served as the evening's subtext, even for those who did not know the clever and touching revue's late composer/lyricist personally.

Bestselling humorist David Sedaris will return with new and unpublished work for the 20th anniversary of his first appearance at Royce Hall. Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker and activist Josh Fox will appear in a live solo performance of The Truth Has Changed ahead of the midterm elections. Pulitzer Prize finalist and Latino Literature Hall of Fame member Luis Alberto Urrea will join previously announced Pulitzer winner Viet Thanh Nguyen in a conversation exploring their writing about the immigrant experience and society we all share as Americans.
