OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today its critically acclaimed drama series “David Makes Man” from Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney (“Moonlight”) has been renewed for a second season. The series, produced by Warner Horizon Scripted Television, recently received a Critics' Choice Award nomination for “Best Drama,” a prestigious Gotham Award nomination, and has been named to several critics' year-end “best of television” lists.

Matt Williams' play FEAR will receive its World Premiere beginning Tuesday, October 15 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street), directed by Tea Alagić. Southern Rep Theatre announces its 2018-19 Mainstage Season, its 32nd, featuring the regional premieres of THE WOLVES by Sarah DeLappe and A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2 by Lucas Hnath as well as three world premieres: AZUL by New Orleans native Christina Quintana, FLOWERS FOR HALLIE - a celebration of Mahalia Jackson written by and starring Troi Bechet - and MANDATORY MERRIMENT: AN UNTITLED HOLIDAY MUSICAL created by Leslie Castay and Ian Hoch with book by Ian Hoch.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the opening of its 81st Rolling World Premiere (RWP): Nomad Motel by Carla Ching. The Roll kicks off at Member Theaters City Theatre Company (May 18-June 3 in Pittsburgh), followed by Horizon Theatre Company (September 28-October 21 in Atlanta), and Unicorn Theatre (January 23-February 27, 2019 in Kansas City, MO). Nomad Motel was presented at NNPN's 2016 National Showcase of New Plays, hosted by the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas at Austin.

MCC Theater has just announced that Obie-winning director Robert O'Hara (In the Continuum) has just signed on to direct the New York premiere of BLKS by Aziza Barnes. The play will run April 18 - May 26, 2019 at The Newman Mills Theater.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) will begin previews for the MOBILE UNIT's production of HENRY V on Monday, April 23.  Directed by Robert O'Hara, the free sit-down run of HENRY V follows a three-week tour to five boroughs bringing Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts.

In conjunction with the world premiere of The Doppelganger (an international farce) by Matthew-Lee Erlbach, Steppenwolf Theatre Company is offering four free events on select Sundays during the run of the show. Continuing its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts, The Public Theater will mount its MOBILE UNIT again this spring with a free three-week tour to the five boroughs of Shakespeare's HENRY V, directed by Robert O'Hara.Now in its eighth year, the Mobile Unit's free tour (March 29 - April 21) brings Shakespeare and other works to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts by visiting correctional facilities, homeless shelters, social service organizations, and other community venues.
