Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) and MET ensemble members Sarah Shulman and Thom Huenger bring to life their spin on Greek Tragedy with a rocking performance of Oedipus Rox, sponsored by Kohl Building Products. The story of a man destined to fail will be on the Main Stage for four weeks opening April 8 and running to May 1 (Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.) There will be an 8pm "pay what you can" preview  performance on April 7.

Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol" is returning to Frederick for the twenty-second straight year with Maryland Ensemble Theatre's production at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. The cast of over two dozen actors portraying the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, Future and Tiny Tim will transport audiences to Victorian England as the penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooge learns the error of his miserly ways and embraces the true spirit of Christmas.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) will present the inaugural play in its 18th Mainstage season, the hysterical hit show, One Man, Two Guvnors. Written by Richard Bean, and directed by MET Artistic Director Tad Janes, the play will run at MET for four weeks beginning September 11.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre is proud to announce the creation of a festival of new works in this summer's METLab. The festival will feature a "Plays in Progress" series that will include a full production and staged readings at various levels of development including a chance to see the same work at different stages. The festival will also feature free "Coffee House Readings" staged in a relaxed atmosphere with live music, wine and of course java.  All plays are by Maryland natives.  MET Artistic Director Tad Janes is enthusiastic about sharing these original works with MET audiences. "METLab was created because the passion for new voices had started spilling over. Our ensemble was ready to create a play development festival that served the needs of the playwright. We aim to give voice to new playwrights and give local artists a space to be heard."

Maryland Ensemble Theatre has announced its 2015-2016 Mainstage season. MET's 18th Mainstage season will run from September of 2015 through June of 2016 and will feature a cheeky English comedy, an original twist on a horror classic, a traditional holiday musical, and contemporary crowd pleasers.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) continues its seventeenth Mainstage season with the satirical dark comedy "The Arsonists" by Max Frisch, and translated by Alistair Beaton. Inspired by the Communist takeover of Czechoslovakia in 1948, this absurdist allegory satirizes the way in which people can be manipulated into accommodating their own destruction. In the play, fires are becoming something of a problem, popping up all over town, but Mr. Biedermann has it all under control. A respected member of the community, he tries to live a life of blameless middle-class decency. It is this sense of bourgeois propriety that renders Biedermann defenseless when two strangers finesse their way into his home and settle in. But when they start filling his attic with petrol drums, will he help them light the fuse?

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET), Frederick's largest producing non-profit theater, launched a Capital Campaign in September of 2013 to raise funds for an additional performance venue and alterations to the existing facilities. On January 10, 2015 MET celebrated the completion of the Stage2: The Greene Space venue and numerous other capital improvements with a ribbon cutting ceremony, hours of free activities for families, and an evening of comedy and music. Bruce Norris' satirical comedy won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize Award and the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play. 'Clybourne Park' will be directed by Peter Wray and will run every Thursday through Sunday at Maryland Ensemble Theatre from tonight, September 12 through October 5.

The smart, touching, and hilarious period play will be directed by MET Associate Artistic Director, Julie Herber.
