Goodspeed Musicals continues its commitment to fresh, innovative works with this new musical infused with Connecticut flavor. Syracuse Stage and the Department of Drama team up with New York City-based 2 Ring Circus to put an acrobatic spin on the beloved family favorite, The Wizard of Oz. Based on the original novel by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 MGM Motion Picture, this stage adaptation contains the familiar characters and popular songs , such as Over the Rainbow and We're Off to See the Wizard (Follow the Yellow Brick Road). The production opens Dec. 1 in the Archbold Theatre at the Syracuse Stage/SU Drama Complex, 820 E. Genesee St. Preview performances are Nov. 29 and Nov. 30.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) announces the cast and creative team for Hamlet, directed by STC Artistic Director Michael Kahn and featuring acclaimed actor Michael Urie as the tortured Danish prince. Shakespeare's most celebrated tragedy will run January 16-February 25, 2018 at Sidney Harman Hall.

Syracuse University's Department of Drama presents The House of the Spirits, an adaptation of Isabel Allende's novel written by playwright Caridad Svich. Svich's adaptation is a theatrical response that works to capture the feel of Allende's magical realism. The House of the Spirits opens on Nov. 11 in the Storch Theatre at the Syracuse Stage/SU Drama Complex, 820 E. Genesee St. A preview performance is on Nov. 10.

American Blues Theater continues its 2017-2018 Season with the Chicago premiere of Steve Murray's This Wonderful Life and directed by Ensemble member Carmen Roman, starring Founding Ensemble Member James Leaming. Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's 27th summer season will launch with the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime and will feature three Shakespeare plays: the popular comedy Twelfth Night, the profound and lyrical history play King Richard II, and an actor-driven production of the spirited and bittersweet comedy All's Well That Ends Well. As the Festival continues its ambitious progression through the canon, King Richard II will be the 30th of Shakespeare's 38 plays PSF has produced.
