A CLOSER WALK WITH PATSY CLINE Plays John Hancock Hall 4/7-17

A country music legend whose life was cut tragically short comes to life in the hit musical, A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline, playing at John Hancock Hall for two weeks only, Wednesday April 7 through Saturday, April 17.

CalArts School of Theater Premiers KENDWOOD WILDERNESS, 4/8-4/17

The CalArts School of Theater premiers Kenwood Wilderness, an opera-play by Peter Parshall Jensen with original music composed by Lam Kwan-Fai and directed by Lars Jan. Kenwood Wilderness will perform in Ensemble Theater II (E400) at the California Institute of the Arts, 24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia, CA 91355. There will be a preview performance on Thursday, April 8th at 8:00 p.m. Kenwood Wilderness will run Friday, April 9th at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, April 13th thru Saturday, April 17th at 8:00 p.m. Admission is free and by reservation only. Bailiwick Chicago Announces Concert Performance Of BLOOM 4/16, 4/17

Bailiwick Chicago's Executive Director, Kevin Mayes, announced today that the company is producing a development workshop and subsequent concert performances of a new musical comedy, titled BLOOM, with music by Peter Foley, lyrics by Matthew Heimer, book by Andy Siegel, and story by Kevin Mayes.

Two Brooklyn opera companies, AMERICAN OPERA PROJECTS (AOP) and OPERA ON TAP, will present the fourth installment of its Opera Grows in Brooklyn series, an evening of three 30-minute opera scenes and songs. The program will feature mezzo-soprano Abigail Fischer singing Absynth, a futuristic monodrama made up of newly-commissioned electronic songs from composers Nico Muhly, Andrew Staniland, and others; Clint Borzoni's new one-act opera Margot Alone in the Light, based on a Ray Bradbury short story; and Dreams of Pure Spirit: Songs of Tom Cipullo with the composer at the piano. The show will be held on Friday, April 16 at 8pm at Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood.

A collection of authors and actors including Stephen Colbert, young adult novelist Libba Bray (winner of the 2010 Printz Award for Going Bovine), Artistic Director of the Public Theater Oskar Eustis, novelist Jayne Anne Phillips (National Book Award finalist Lark & Termite) and novelist and Studio 360 host Kurt Andersen read from and discuss the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill A Mockingbird at Symphony Space's Thalia Book Club on April 28 at 8:00 p.m. The event, which takes place on the 84th birthday of author Harper Lee, marks the 50th anniversary of the watershed work.
