CCO Presents The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 6/15

Center for Contemporary Opera (CCO), a celebrated arts organization dedicated to the creation and performance of contemporary American opera, closes its 27th season with a groundbreaking world premiere presentation of John Eaton's opera The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on June 15, 2010 at Symphony Space. The opera opens the annual American Composers Alliance Festival.

NEW YORK FESTIVAL OF SONG To Present All New Program 5/4, 5/6

Kaufman Center and New York Festival Of Song (NYFOS, www.nyfos.org), acclaimed by New York Magazine as 'The best classical music programming in New York,' will present an all-new program on May 4 and 6 at 8 PM of American composers, including the premiere of Beautiful Ohio, a song cycle by 2009 Pulitzer Prize- finalist Harold Meltzer, with texts of poet James Arlington Wright and composed specifically for the young American tenor Paul Appleby.

Gavin Creel to Play London's Ronnie Scott's Club, 5/4

Broadway leading man Gavin Creel, who is currently reprising his Broadway role of Claude in the West End's production of HAIR, will appear on May 4 at the London club Ronnie Scott's.

Calloway, White et al. Garner '10 MAC Award Noms.; Uggams Honored, McNight Hosts 5/4

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs has announced the nominees for the 2010 24th Annual MAC Awards. The ceremony honoring the nominees, will take place on May 4, 2010 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, and will be hosted by Sharon McNight. Leslie Uggams will be honored for Lifetime Achievement, with Board of Directors Awards being presented to Peter Leavy and playbill.com. The event will begin at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:00pm. Lennie Watts will direct the evening, with Tracy Stark musical directing.

The InterSchool Orchestras of NY Hosts Free Mothers Day Concert In Central Park 5/9

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus) and Vineyard Theatre (Artistic Director, Douglas Aibel; Executive Director, Jennifer Garvey-Blackwell) have announced complete casting for their co-production of the New York premiere of the new musical THE BURNT PART BOYS by Mariana Elder (book), Chris Miller (music) and Nathan Tysen (lyrics).

Colbert, Bray, Eustis & More Celebrate 50th Anniversary of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' 4/28

A collection of authors and actors including Stephen Colbert, young adult novelist Libba Bray (winner of the 2010 Printz Award for Going Bovine), Artistic Director of the Public Theater Oskar Eustis, novelist Jayne Anne Phillips (National Book Award finalist Lark & Termite) and novelist and Studio 360 host Kurt Andersen read from and discuss the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill A Mockingbird at Symphony Space's Thalia Book Club on April 28 at 8:00 p.m. The event, which takes place on the 84th birthday of author Harper Lee, marks the 50th anniversary of the watershed work. The evening will include readings, discussion and an audience Q&A. Tickets are $24, $20 for members.

Joe's Pub Announces CD Releases for Upcoming Week, 5/24 -5/27

Joe's Pub at the Public Theater (425 Lafayette St.) announces performances from May 24th to the 27th. The week includes CD Releases from Judith Berkson, Pete Francis, and Lauren Kinhan, solo shows from Sean Bradford and Brendan James, along with other performers. Ticket prices range from $12 to $20.

Engendered Dance Festival Ends Run at Symphony Space at Lincoln Centre, 4/25
